SAD :( only XS left in Patagonia Active Hipster Briefs - any girls out there with slim hips, I highly recommend these, and would have bought a bunch if they had my size; super comfy for hiking,...

You missed my point. The $20 GC that is so important to get from REI will be VOIDED when the return is processed if the original total isn't >= $100 after the return. If you didn't know that would...

The two transactions are already tied together by both your REI member number and the Gift Card number. Software to keep track of it would be easy, and since the Gift Card terms specifically cover...

Right. I think some people aren't getting that it's a member-exclusive deal, so it's going to be linked to your REI member number.

For anyone looking to pick up the Mountain Man, keep in mind that it runs pretty short - Watch the video on it. I had to return mine because it would sit right top of my belt.

Can anyone confirm this? I find it hard to believe they'd have software able to keep track of this. Not only would they have to tie together the two transactions they'd also have to have a trigger...

You might try the "Live Help" link at the bottom of the REI web page. See if they'll do a virtual return and rebuy at the lower price without physically having to return the item.

You missed my point. I'm saying don't buy an extra jacket. Buy $100 worth of gear you want.

Good luck finding REI quality brands elsewhere for cheaper. I was able to get two top notch sleeping bags for $120 ($100 if you count the gift card). Plus, REI stands by its products unlike a lot...

But did the total amount of your returns make your original purchase less than $100? Don't forget to include the cost of your membership and the cost of the $20 gift card.

Unrelated but potentially helpful for those who may have a Columbia outlet near them. I went and found a MH Monkey Man for about 35 dollars after tax without any coupon. I was kind of regretting not...

Why not just return the items AFTER you have used the $20 gift card then? That seems an easy workaround and I'd be impressed if they found a way to still get that $20 back. I suppose they could...
