It's really not that bad. Took some initial setup years ago, but it's quite helpful now. Automatically color-codes each entry based on status so I can quickly glance at the list and see if there's...
thanks for the heads up. was going to drop an FX-6300 and a 7850 to replace my celeron G550 build, but i'll probably have to upgrade the PSU if i go that route. might be a good excuse to go intel...

I forgot to look at the ratings for this PSU. With 32 amps on the 12V rail you probably won't have any issues. If you already have the PSU I would just give it a shot and do some stress testing, see...

You won't need near 750W for a single GPU or even most SLI/CF setups. The CX430 will run the majorty of single card setups. If you wanted to step up to something a bit nicer, you could always go for...

I've got the 600w cousin of this in my desktop right now, and I can barely hear it above the 10 dB fans. Pretty damn quiet, all things considered.

Thanks! Great option for the inlaws.

Thanks for the report. Based on reviews, that SS-300ET I mentioned earlier appears to be near-silent. Can you hear this at all when you're listening to any media?

Wow. That's all the power it needs? Fot HTPC purposes though, does anyone know how quiet this PSU is?

I've been going back and forth between this and the Seasonic SS-300ET for a while. With Newegg's current 10% off V.me promo code, the latter is $40. I still lean towards the Seasonic since a) I...

Same boat. Been waiting for it to go on sale. I was going to get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151117 but at $20, this is pretty hard to pass up. I might go for...

Thanks for the reply. I already know about the coil-whine issue, which was also noted about the CX600 as well, but I bought 2 CX600s 3 months ago and they're both pretty much near silent. I love...

I had this PSU until 3 days ago. I turned on my PC and a plop sound came from the PSU and a lot of smoke. I'm waiting for the replacement from corsair.

750w is more than enough to run two and even three cards. You should be looking at around 500w for one high end gpu. IIvan tell you that this psu will support a 7850 all day long.

Be careful with the rebate. I submitted EVERYTHING they required and they said they did NOT receive the invoice. Yeah, right! I was told that i have to resend the invoice.

it's really that power hungry huh? i have an 8320 coming for my build with a kingston v300 SSD, 2 120mm case fans (no dvd drive), and 7770.. i'm quite certain i'll have enough power, but i don't know...

Be careful with CPU with over 100 watt TDPs. My 8 core FX and single GPU setup craps out with a 425w pc power and cooling when it's pegged to the max.

Ohh...is that how the effiency works? I thought 80% meant that a 430 Watt PSU will be efficient up to 344 Watts (80% of 430). Boy I had it way off.

Correct! But it's not a lot of headroom to work with. I just said be careful and do some testing if you are going to try and pair this corsair with an FX and a GPU. I might try and do some...

Great PSU - I picked it up a few months ago when it went as low as $16 AR. Dead silent, which you can test using the 'paperclip trick' to turn the fan on. Perfect for an HTPC.

not sure what you mean? this PSU is an 80+ bronze PSu.. the first version was not, since it was so old.

Picked one up last night thanks! Now searching for a decent video card to upgrade the crappy hd2500, hoping to stay under 80 and use that rebate card for a 100 total upgrade between psu and gpu.

HD 7970 TDP is 210 watts MAX the only reason to not run at PSU to its rated load is if it is crap. Please note a 430 Watt PSU will be drawing 538 AC Watts at the wall outlet (80% eff).

Should I grab this now or wait till it drops again to sub $20? I'm in no hurry for an extra power supply...just need it for an HTPC I'll be building months from now.

I have this PS. Got it about a year ago for the same price after rebate. I have it in a HTPC. Compared the crappy diablotek I replaced it is much quieter. My HTPC is about 12 feet away from my sofa...
i too have received many compliments for the quietness of this PSU in my machine. everytime it pops up i consider grabbing another, absolutely love it.

I have this in my PC and I don't regret spending $20 on it. It's certainly superior to the cheap-o PSU that it replaced. Like another poster noted, it does go on sale regularly at this price.

A 7970 ghz system consumes about 350w on max load. This should handle your card, but its really cutting it close. Also the psu will be inefficient at high power draw. A rule of thumb is to keep your...

I just rma'd a CX600 that failed after three months. It cost me $15 to ship it to California.
