For long term storage this is by far better than the HF charger. The chances of over charging are much less with this unit.
Also, this includes the quick disconnect, which is worth a few dollars...

I have to store several cars. I have 8 batteries on maintainers. 4 various ones from $20-$30. 4 of them on those $5 HF ones. They work just fine. If they made them in 6V I would get more.
