If I don't care about recording video, do I really need the STM lens? I'm looking for the $699 deal with the 55-250 lens. (Amazon's price is close, but Buydig charges no tax.)

Trust me...It's worth the extra over the 18-55 for the 18-135. Otherwise it would cost you alot more later to buy it.

For a film major with a sub-$1000 budget, a DSLR is the way to go. Even with the steep learning curve, the results will be worth it. There are a lot of artistic possibilities with a DSLR that a...

I mean it depends what type of video work you are doing. Shooting a lot of action? Will you be moving around a lot? Neither are particularly well suited for a DSLR, and it takes a lot of practice to...

The STM lens is a defining feature of the T4i. If you don't get an STM lens, you may as well save some more money and get a T3i or T2i. If you're completely new to DSLRs, the touchscreen is a nice...

How did you get $60? I wasn't able to get the freebies so I chatted with a CSR and she credited me exactly $22.42 (the cost of the lens cap keeper and the 16GB card).

Not really. Just the nature of zooming a DSLR lens means you'll get hitches where it's not perfectly smooth. And then there is the fact that it's got a variable aperture...so, if you start recording...
