I have the Filtrete 3M-50 as well. Their website has a lot of videos if you have trouble with the thermostat wiring. Love the free iPhone app from Radio Thermostat Company of America.. NO monthly...

It's a few wires, very simple to change out a thermostat. No need to turn main power off, just shut off the furnace.
