The Northwoods were single core with HT - dual core came out later with Pentium D. Mobiles like this were based on an improved P3 design.

Worthless is using this POS x86 die for traffic shaping when you can utilize a RISC CPU at 1/3 the frequency for more performance and substantially less consumption :D

Yes, those Celerons (P2-class) were amazing. I remember my dad was kind of dumb and bought a ridiculously expensive cooler from Step Thermodynamics. It literally cost twice as much as the CPU itself...

It's the perfect chip for a custom router build, so not worthless at all. Worthless would be running a quad-core for the purpose of a custom consumer router.

Yup, I still have a couple Semprons around here! Useless things haha. I don't have boards for them anymore, as I found REAL CPUs to use the boards with. I use a small Intel board with an old...

Maybe a newer processor. I don't think anyone is sending back any socket 486 CPU's any more. These have to be working pulls from scrapped systems. Corporations were throwing these out 5 years ago.

I don't know why you'd want to. I don't even know why you'd use it for a NAS unless you have tons of old parts lying around. I'm talking IDE drives and DDR (1, not 2 or 3) memory lying around....
