That's probably more a function of the cache and controller improvements in the newer drive rather than the fact it's SATA III or SATA II interface, plenty of very fast WD SATA II Caviar Blacks out...

V300 and V+200 use Sandforce 2281 controller. V200 (without the +) uses Jmicron. I have heard of performance issues with it. Biggest problem is that Jmicron still can't get a handle on fast writes.

if you're not in a rush, wait for a deal on the V300. while speeds will be capped by the SATA2, you will at least have saturated the bandwidth. there's been 2 slickdeals on V300 in the last month...
