The only thing it's better at is probably the longevity. If you're an enterprise user this drive is good however at this price, you're better off spending an extra $20 (Plextor M5P) for a faster MLC...

I believe it is the fact that some people view an SSD purchase as something that is going to be handed down to their grandchildren as an heirloom.

Why do people still buy a Toyota car over a Scion? It's made by the same company with a good reputation. TLC may be fine but why post for cheap parts when u can get better parts for almost the same...

There is a lot of nonsense being posted about TLC in this topic.
Longevity doesn't just matter in terms of how long the product will work before it stops allowing writes. TLC degradation can cause...

That's not very good advice.
The truth is that the MLC used in the 830 not only has FAR better longevity than the TLC used in the (non pro) 840, it also has FAR better error resistance. TLC...

Keeping car analogies to the side, I can't vouch for the SanDisk Extreme's but I can tell you it is slower in IOPS reading based on the specs. If the SanDisk Extreme 240GB is around $140 then by all...

I was confused why you mentioned that the 840 was "hands down" better than the 830 when there is zero difference in performance(to 95% of consumers) and any differences that can be measured is only...

You are thinking of the 840. It's newer but slightly lesser in various areas. I'm on the hunt for another 256 830 but $190 still isn't worth it. That being said and it being out of production it may...

What is keeping the demand for the 830s so high that they're still going at these high prices? Why doesn't everyone just buy the non-pro Samsung 840 drives since they're hands down better?

Maybe I should've re-worded it...at what point does the performance of an SSD(eg. Samsung 830 vs 840 non-pro) become indistinguishable to the average user? 30,000 IOPS? 50,000? 100k IOPS? 300MB/s vs...
