Yes - SSDs are 2.5" so they will work with both laptops and desktops.
In your case you just replace your current hard drive with the SSD and you can either clone your current hard drive to the SSD...

Samsung has been lying with power spec claims for years. The 830 was perhaps the worst lie (it uses a lot of power under load), but these TLC drives are up there.
