I had both a V1 and a V2 of this router and loved them both. Although, they have the same chipset. The flash memory was doubled in the V2 and I'm pretty sure the antenna config was changed somewhat...

Too many issues post V1 and V2 of this router. Netgear had a great router with the WNDR3700. Then they screwed up with the firmware and proceeded to "value engineer" on top of that.

I'd recommend something else. This router is dated. They changed the specs and chipsets in every version release. Some of them have problems with 2.4GHz radios going weak/dead. I did run one for...

Great router. Had one of these for three years. Mine is a v1, they changed processors and antennas for v2, so I can't really vouch for consistency between models.

Instead of playing the lottery with this one (since you really don't want a V3, and even V1 can be finicky), buy a WNDR37AV. They come down in price every so often as well and is a guaranteed V2.

some folks actually want the V3 IIRC, due to better DD-WRT options - more Broadcom choices so it depends
