Never had the edge issue with my bodum - it has the same type filter. Maybe they recently changed them?

You need to add preheated water just like a french press. At work we have these water jug dispensers that can heat water pretty fast. Also we got some huge coffee makers that have hot water in them.

Some good stuff here for sure. However I think I have officially stopped my search for new ways to make coffee after discovering the aeropress. $21 after 20% off coupon at BBB.

For anyone interested in a French press with no plastic parts, check out the La Cafetiere presses, available on Amazon. Not too expensive either.

I've been using an Aeropress for 5yrs and love it. Much easier to clean than a French press and it won't break. If you want a more French press like coffee, you can easily make your own mesh filter...

Son of a gun...I just broke my glass the other day and had to order a replacement glass for $16. I could've gotten the whole friggin thing new for that! Oh well.

The 8cup Bodum was $10 about a month ago. https://slickdeals.net/permadeal/88526/cost-plus-world-market-8cup-bodum-french-press-coffee-maker-red I hate bodums going on front page.

I don't find the cleanup to be that cumbersome. Why not dump the ground in the garbage can or even outside for compost? I only give the mesh filter a good cleaning once a week or so. In between I...

This comment and lots of positive reviews on amazon swayed me to get the stainless 8-cup french press. Gonna use it for both coffee and tea. Why yes, I will spend $64 for a coffee/tea press =)

The stainless 8-cup French press has been my primary coffee pot for about 6 years. If it weren't so well-made, then I'd be forced to buy another one :) Edit: I actually have the 51-oz one here:...

Wow. I'm unfamiliar with this product, but this makes coffee?? To me it looks like a water jug!

I own this coffee press and it makes great coffee. I suppose it also has to do with the kind of coffee you're using.

My Bodum's filter is like the freiling. I never even knew there were silicone ones. Anyways, I love the coffee I get from french presses, but I hate cleaning them after. I don't know if it's...

By the way, just looked at the actual sizes. 3-cup = 12oz. so unless you have really tiny cups, it will be more like 1.5 cups. 8-cup = 34oz. so about 4 cups. In for a 3-cup :) since I...

Highly recommend their products. If the stovetop espresso maker is available, get it. Looks like the Santos is a great price here, wish I could justify buying it.
How do you heat the water, stick it the microwave then add tea infuser? Or is there some self-contained heating element not pictured?
Thanks. Seems impractical unless you have hot water at the ready (as you do). I've seen tea kettles which incorporate the steeper thingy and you can heat it directly on the stove. Probably go for...

No edge issues with my bodum either. It's gotten harder to press over the years, but that's probably because I seem to use more and more coffee every year :) I'm not sure exactly when I got my...

I don't see anything for tea besides the electric kettles I guess. The teapot in the first post is not (no longer?) there. They do make good stuff.
