It depends on where you live. Comcast is starting to charge an "extra outlet" fee of $8.75 for each cable card (+ 1.10 for the card itself minus $2.50 for "providing your own equipment" credit.

Does anyone know how much it cost monthly for the cable card? I want to be able to watch movie channels and sports channels such as golf channel, European soccer.

I agree, the echo box is way overpriced! It doesn't seem like you can do much more with an extender than you can do with a "smart" type box with DLNA capabilities, I think I paid $60 for a...

Comcast does not charge you for your first cable card. However, if you already have a DVR from them there is a cable card in it. On top of that comcast will charge you 8 dollars a month for an...

Assuming the firmware gets released as they say, the Echo will be able to use Android apps as well. One box that can access my Windows Media Center and my Plex Media Server? That would be awesome. ...

So my mixed setup should work? And it does have an advantage of not needing a PC? I usually research the hell out of a topic before I put any money into it, but the monthly F.U. to Verizon made me...

You still need a pc running Windows 7 and Windows Media Center for the Echo to connect to. The Echo is simply an extender that brings WMC to any tv. And at this time Windows 8 supports only the...

Whenever such combo deals are announced it generally means that the individual components are about to undergo a major price reduction. I doubt that they'll discount the InfiniTV that much since it's...

For those in a Comcast service area, here is a FAQ from Comcast's site. This might clear up any questions regarding your bill. The page was last updated 2/13/13 so I would consider it current. ...

The cost of a cablecard varies widely by provider, by circumstances, and by area. I personally don't pay anything for my cablecard from Comcast and get the monthly owned equipment credit, but that's...

This is a niche market, so the number of competitors is pretty small. Ceton and Silicondust are clearly the big dogs. Hauppauge makes them, but I believe their only cablecard tuner is the external...

That's too bad that you have had so many issues. My experience with the Ceton pcie has been the exact opposite. It has been totally flawless in my install for over a year and a half. I think I...

I recommend the PCIe version. Been using it since the release with no problems. All of the problems that have arisen stem from the cable company screwing something up.

The difference is that you connect the hdhomerun via ethernet cable to your router rather than usb to the pc like the ceton. The extender works the same way at the tv regardless of which tuner...

I don't have my bill in front of me but I do know that the charge for the CableCARD refers to hardware not an additional outlet. That is on my bill at least.
