This is a good hard drive replacement but don't expect SSD speeds as advertised. Review http://www.storagereview.com/seagate_sshd_thin_review_gen3_500gb_st500lm000

1. Not a deal. The street price with minimal shopping around for it is $80. For example, MacMall It is new so retailers are pricing it wildly. 2. Not an improvement over Momentus XT. Sata 3...

Try to read the whole post before quoting out of context. You seem to have a problem with this in the entire thread. Comprehension problems? If you must criticize have the intellectual honesty to...

There's no evidence that system logs or hibernate files need to reside in cache at all since you can resume from a pure HDD or any other media. In fact as the log grows it has to be flushed to disk....

You showed your ignorance when you stated the resume from platters argument, it is platters because the logs and hibernate info would be constantly rewritten and flushed to platters. The older gen...

Momentus XT 2nd gen had SATA III also - the improvement is in write caching vs. just read in the prev gen from your own link: 18% faster in HTPC workloads and 54% faster in Gaming workloads than...

my mistake on the link, but it does address your contention about being marginal that macMall has it isn't really an issue - if you compare it to the current XT 500GB? or for that matter the orig...

I think you missed the point. This drive supposedly sells at a street price of $80. Even the storagereview.com claims this in their review which came out a week before this "deal". The reason to...

Huh? If you resume hibernation from the platters, this will be one slow machine to wake up. The whole point of having the cache is to speed that up to SSD-like performance just like a boot (which is...

It's clear you have no clue as to how caching works you don't need all of hiberfil or the log within cache just enough for the next block read. It would be absurd to store all 4-16GB of a hibernate...

Yes it will be mostly filled but usually with the most often used data which would be O/S mostly so these don't get rewritten constantly - just read, unless your most used file is a pron file - of...

Not true in the "real life" scenarios in the reviews that you are basing your support on if the drive is being used for OS, media and apps as would happen in a single drive laptop this is targeted...

How exactly did you get "store all of the file" from what I wrote, given the drive has no concept whatsoever of a file as I mentioned. It is known as putting up a strawman argument. You keep...

Standard notebook bay yes, but all 2.5" drives are coming out in 7mm and smaller form factors. Int terms of shipping volume 7mm is the new drive height standard and it meets Ultrabook spec.

regardless where you refer to std it's still 9.5mm not 7mm (UB standard)
