Amazon's $649 18-135mm kit is a much better value. You can get a 55-250mm lens for $80 more as well.
The 18-135mm lens is worth about $250+ on eBay.

It's closer to $200 more for the t4i body/kit. There is a minimal difference between body only and the 18-55mm kit. I agree with you though, it's worth it to buy the newest model to maintain resale...
