Isn't really better in my mind. Amazon with prime or Newegg with shoprunner for $30 flat... I'd rather pay the extra $2.50 and have 2-day shipping.

Yep! All purchases through PSN pass through the wallet, whether it's by credit card or pre-paid card. You add funds to your wallet then they are used for the purchase.

Skip 1 and 2 altogether. Play 3 before 4. The story in 3 is better than 4, but the interface upgrades from 3 to 4 make going backwards difficult.

I'd have recommend selling it, but it looks like Atlus went ahead and reprinted it for the PS2. A few years back, even used copies were selling for quite a bit. Now worth less than $20. Shame.
