These are not good quality, too many large pieces lumps. I prefer the Lowes generic brand that go on sale for $2.50 uniform color and consistency

But wood chips aren't exactly as good as "true" mulch. I'll let others chime in...but for one, you may end up introducing carpenter ants and termites to your property...so never put free mulch...

If you really need mulch and it's not available in your area and/or $1 per bag is just too pricey for you, just call a local tree trimming service near you. They give wood chips away for free.
