Try some rubbing compound. The TurtleWax stuff is pretty cheap, but it is hard and required a lot of buffing. I bought the 3M liquidy version at Wal Mart for $9 and it worked okay. Works better with...

It's basically 3M sandpaper... you'll take the paint off if you screw up with your drill. Notice how it says xxx grit?

You're right, it won't. Oxidation is a chemical change in the plastic from the sun/air/smog. His lenses might actually be glass somehow if paper towel cleans em.

Depends on how deep the scratches are. What you're doing is removing a layer of plastic from your headlights.

The FP deal was $5.59 (with protectant)... this deal is more expensive ($8.65). Still a good deal, though. The kit w/o protectant doesn't seem like it is 'complete' solution.

Toothpaste works but if you have a thick layer of oxidization, you need some fine grit sandpaper. Toothpaste will only cut away a thin layer, good for continuing maintenance.
