careful.... I was cross-checking this vs the unit I already have (also gorilla ladder, same style) - to see if THIS unit had better reach/extension - my ~ 10 YO unit says about 18' 10" max extension so I thought - OK THIS ladder can go 3' longer/taller, right? Well according to the spec sheet, this ladder is 18' 10" with a maximum REACH (e.g. you standing on it) of 22'.

Spec sheet:

All extension ladders are somewhat deceiving in their lengths. For example, a 22' extension ladder is made up of two 11' sections, but there has to be a few feet of overlap of those pieces making the max length considerably shorter than 22'.

These multi-use ladders are sized in relation to comparable extension ladders, thus this ~19' max length ladder suddenly becomes a 22' for comparison and advertising purposes.
40lbs isn't bad at all. I guess the question is safety vs. lightweight. How much would you trust a 20lbs ladder when you're 18' off the ground? I'll personally take the 40lbs please. This is one of those times where cutting corners to save on weight is a huge no-no.

Is this the model? GLA-MPX22

SD hotlinks come up as blank pages for me so included model, sku or UPC is handy

I have the Werner. While this is certainly a decent deal, just a heads up that this thing is friggin HEAVY. I didn't think it would bother me, but it kinda does.

EDIT: Home Depot has the weight shown at 40lbs. Sheesh.
