Bump it's been an interesting day, to say the least EEK! long day of meetings and sessions at the conference, busy breaks catching up with people, and an earth quake disrupting the afternoon almost completely. still not sure they handled it correctly, but what are you going to do Dontknow

Bump another long day of conferencing. started at 8am, sessions to 6:15pm, plus a networking social until 7 Faint tomorrow is the last day, we get done early in the afternoon (but not early enough for most people to fly home, so most people will still be here through Friday morning). I'm about conferenced out, this is really pushing the limits of my ability to fake being an extrovert nod

I'm not going home until Sunday. Friday morning I'm headed to DC, plan to hit a few museums, have dinner with a friend, spend a night in a hotel closer to DC, then Saturday wandering around with friends and staying with one of them, then who knows what on Sunday my flight Sunday evening.

the big worry at this point is that pesky hurricane, which will probably get here late Saturday or Sunday, could be trouble if I can't fly home Sunday night.

Right now the prediction is for it to be a category 2 when it reaches NC. Hopefully they're right and it won't gain strength again.

it's an interesting twist to my weekend. I've debated trying to leave earlier, but I don't know if its worth it or not. Dontknow as long as I'm not too delayed (but I do get home on Sunday), then I'm fine. worst case, I take Monday off. I'm swimming in leave hours anyway, I need to take more time off.

last night in the conference center, tomorrow could be a long but hopefully interesting day. headed into DC, hoping to finally see some museums I've not seen in a while or at all before. Woot

I've never been there but it's high on my list of places to see.

The latest predictions are that it will make landfall in NC (rather than skimming the coast) and will drop down to a 2 as it heads north.

It seems like they're making a much bigger deal of this than it should be. I understand evacuating the coastal areas due to the storm surge but it's going to be down to a class 1 long before it hits New York.

I have no idea at this point. I'm trying to coordinate what's going on tomorrow with my friend, but he's at some bar in DC still, I don't think he knows how he's getting home tonight, let alone picking me up tomorrow Dontknow I think it's too late to try and fly out before the hurricane, so I guess we'll see what things are like by Sunday evening Whee as long as I get home eventually I'm cool, I don't even really care if it's Sunday night, either.

in a related note, when I finally checked in this evening, they had slid a note under the door saying what would happen in an emergency, how long their generator would work, how long we'd have hot and regular water.

I guess I'll figure it all out in the morning, I've got a coupon for a free breakfast and we'll go from there.

Now see, that's the attitude to have. Most travelers are way too uptight when things get out of wack.

A co-worker of DH had planned to fly into New York this weekend for a vacation. When he tried to reschedule for Monday, the flights were all full, so they bumped him up to first class. That never happens to me. Sadwalk
