Get echo now for cheaper price and use it shopping device later. Get Google Home once it has bluetooth capability to hook up your own speakers.

For shopping, you wouldn't need much newer hardware. For other stuff, you might and would make sense to get the Google home later which you could use for long run. I am doing same but then again it's just me.

Right now you can stream music from Echo Dot 2 to Bluetooth speaker or Aux cable.
