Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.
Can I cancel after the first year?
Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Tello says my phone will work on it, but need a CDMA Sim. I assume it will work on Sprint too. Does it mean the voice call can be made thru not only LTE Data channel but also CDMA radio? The reason I concern about that I only use cellphone, no landline. I want to be sure I can receive phone call even if the data signal is weak. TIA.
Sprint doesn't have voice over LTE yet; so yes all of your voice call will only be made via CDMA radio. CDMA SIM is required for LTE access. When you say data signal is weak, I assume you mean LTE coverage?

I pulled the trigger on this last night. Site worked fine for me, but it seems others have had problems. This seems like one of those "too good to be true" kind of a deals that I just couldn't pass up - but I DID THE MATH! Encourage everyone to do the same.

I am not counting on not needing a new phone before 10/1 - if we get that far, AWESOME, but if not it's not all bad either. Here are my break-even points:
- I have to pay off the balance on my phones through Verizon, my break even point is 2.5 months to make up my balance pay off vs. my Verizon monthly plan payments. But wait - I have phones worth $ that are paid off..... so really...
- When I consider my trade in value on my phones (https://secure.sprintbuyback.com), my break even point really is about 25 days because my iphones are valued at $170 to sell back to Sprint. So after 25 days I could turn in my 6S's for new phones and use my sell back value to pay for down payment/future monthly bills on new phones with data plan (as free plan voided if buying phone prior to 10/1). and yes, I know I can sell through other means for more $ but I honestly don't need the hassle. Convenience wins for me - I'm like a so-so sd'er lol.

But clearly the BEST case scenario - if we can make it until 10/1 it's well over a grand in savings in the next year AND, personally even after I have to buy a phone plan with Sprint that I'm still saving about $20 per month vs Verizon and increasing data to 'unlimited' - more data and cheaper = good.

Jessica: I have checked the details. This plan is designed for postpaid customers only, however, if your phone qualifies for this deal, you will get this deal even if your line is a prepaid line.

Had 4 unlocked phones all come back as not eligible -- 2 Nexus 5X, Moto G4 play, Moto G4. Called CS and they said it's because they were on Sprint prepaid MVNO. Said they couldn't do anything and the phones won't qualify. These phones were on Ringplus, then Ting, but now on MintSim (2 of them) and Freedompop GSM SIM (other 2).

I went into my old Ting account -- all 4 phones were listed as inactive but still showing up in the device section. I haven't used Ting in months. I deleted all 4 phones, and now they come up as eligible on the BYOD check on Sprint! So if you were on R+ or Ting, go into your Ting account and delete your phone to get it released.

Now the question is has anyone successfully got an account using a pre-paid phone #? I'd rather not use the MintSim #s because they have many months of service left. My Freedompop #s and google voice #s come up as eligible. Any luck with these for people going all the way through to getting a SIM and activating? Something cheap like an ATT or Tmobile prepaid would be great if it works (FP is a real pain to get port-out info from what I can tell).
Used a google voice number without a problem, just have to unlock it so it can be ported out. Although I ended up calling telesales because I wanted to use existing SIM card not a new one.

I've read where this promo is likely to have limited success. I mean it's FREE money and a company giving away their product for a year saving the customer potentially thousands of dollars. If Sprint can't pick up customers with FREE, aren't they finished? I can't imagine how they wouldn't pick up millions of new subs with this!

Can someone confirm or debunk this "myth"?

Quote from DrRad :
It's not 1-year free service since you have to pay at least 2 months before the discount kicks in.

A lot of you will be getting surprise bills for almost $120

The cost of the plan is 5 dollars a month. it isn't a discount, it's a new plan with a 5 dollar cost. Then there is a 5 dollar autopay/ebill discount. You may end up paying 10 dollars but that'll be credited back.

This is false. There is no fine print or anything indicating you will pay for phone/data during these first two months. HOWEVER, there is something about activation that is similar to the claimed 2 month fee:
"Your $30 activation fee is waived as part of this promotion. The fee will appear on your first bill and a credit will appear within 2 bills."

So you'll pay that upfront and get it back as a credit... and if you think about it, that credit probably will pay for most of your year of the fees and taxes if you don't need to upgrade your phone in that 12 month period.

I had the same issue. I was thinking maybe my address is not in their system for some reason - when I tried to type it in, the website was trying to auto-complete it to either an address in CO or MO but not my address in NC (it was the Sprint site, it wasn't my browser's auto-complete) Kind of weird.

Had to call in to the number at the top of the page, they processed an order for the SIM card and said they would call me on Friday when it arrives to pull credit and activate it.

Not a good sign when the initial process is such a mess, but crossing my fingers.

Thanks for the reply. I'll stop by after work today and see if I can just pick up a sim from the Sprint store and call online for the credit check and activation. Ill post back tonight to see if it works.

This was glitchy for me yesterday as well. The address "logic" seemed anything but logical. But despite my address not being an auto-populated address (which I find exceedingly funny since I had Sprint service at same address 4 years ago!) I did not have any issues with credit being pulled etc and did not see any credit error. It did sound like that was a common issue though based on some of the comments in prior pages.

Not sure if you will be able to pick up sims from the store as this promotion is NOT being offered in stores. This whole thing cannibalizes their store sales so I would be surprised if they were receptive or cooperative to your requests - but YMMV.

Edit: Seems other posts and wiki on thread indicate more success than I thought regarding picking up SIMs from stores.
