Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.
Can I cancel after the first year?
Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Ah, okay. They tried to port the original number instead of the alternate number. You're going to have to either get Sprint to try to port new number or figure out a way to get Google to let you reclaim the old number (which is highly doubtful). Once you get phone you're going to have to call Sprint and get them to modify your account to the new porting.
Today, I will receive the device. Then I will call them for assigning either new number or try port with new GV. I have plan to pay off the device balance today only.

The BB new phones are insteresting. But I am going to wait 120 days before upgrading. Don't want to screw up this good free plan.

Did anyone actually end up losing their plan after upgrading a phone? By upgrading, I mean ordering a phone like the iPhone SE from best buy deal. My understanding is that it would just give you an error and say upgrading is not compatible with your plan. That's what happened when I tried upgrading for my 4th iPhone. They called me saying I would have to change my plan, so I canceled the order. But anyone got an order through somehow and ended up losing the plan down the line?
They have yet to call me but my order is still pending. If this is true I'm scared as hell because I actually like my google voice number (it's an Old Los Angeles area code that's hard to get now). Hopefully they call me tomorrow and let me know what's going on. I didn't know about the upgrade clause in the fine print.

I just helped my mom sign up this morning. A little bit of a hassle but finally got it done. One thing that irked me... after going through the terms with me, the customer service rep basically said to me, "I'm also signing you up for the Total Equipment Protection Plus insurance plan. It only costs about 43 cents a day and you can cancel anytime you want." He didn't ask me if I wanted it, he just told me he was going to sign me up for it. Being as this is not my first rodeo, I said, "Don't sign me up for insurance, I already know I don't want it." He says, "You have to sign up for it at the time of activation, you can call back tomorrow and cancel it." I say, "I don't want to call back and cancel it. I want you to not sign me up for it in the first place." He then says, "We are going to be reprogramming your phone so you have to sign up for it just in case. Just call back tomorrow to cancel." So finally, I dropped it and went online and canceled it this afternoon. Highly unethical, if you ask me.

EDIT: Oh, also, I ran into trouble with her credit check online, so it said I had to call. So I went to one of the local Sprint stores to get a SIM card. The first store, a corporate store at the mall, the guys says, "You can't just buy a sim card." I showed him on my phone where the Sprint website says you can buy the Sim kit in the store, and he just says, "That's incorrect." Fine, so I leave the corporate store and go to the Sprint kiosk. I tell the guy there I want to buy a sim card for BYOD. He asks another guy behind the counter if they have any, and the guy says yes. Then, they start speaking in some language I don't understand (it wasn't English or Spanish). The guy lays the SIM package on the counter, so I ask how much it is. The guy behind the counter says, "I don't know, I'll have to look it up." So I watch him log into the system and bring up the SIM card. It pops up as $0.00. The guy then manually enters $20.00 and turns to me and says, "Twenty dollars". I look at him and say, "You just put that in there. It's $9.99 on the Sprint website with a $7 off promotion right now. I'll give you $9.99 for it." He says, "I don't know, man, I don't want to get in any trouble. You can go to the corporate store and buy it from them." So I say fine and leave. I stop by a second Sprint corporate store on the way home, and the dude there says, no problem. Gets the sim package. Scans it in. It pops up as FREE ISIM KIT PROMO, so he tells me, "You're in luck, it's free right now." And I walk out satisfied. No ethics anywhere these days...

Reading your story about the SIM card... I can't help but laugh. I used to be a sprint customer 3 years ago and the organization of the company as a whole is so confusing and out of whack. It's like nobody knows what the policies are or what the rules are. I called a store near me and asked if they had SIM cards. He said yeah, I walked in, he said hi, handed it to me and I left. Didn't ring up anything or question why I needed the SIM card lol. Crazy.

Anyone try using Moto G4 play? It's on the list here but not on their BYOP list.
G4 Play activates fine but the GPS sucks. If you can spend more, get the G5 plus.

I went to a sprint store and picked up a SIM card then called the sales number to activate everything after "unlocking" the google voice number. They activated the sim and created an account for me, then said it would be 1-2 hours before I received service.

I'm going to call the porting customer service line tomorrow and see if they can expediate it. Will report back. Thanks guys.
Did you have to pay for the SIM or did they just give it to you?

Has anyone successfully activated through the website without calling CS? Seems odd they'd go through the trouble of having 1-year free, BYOD, and self-activation, but having customers calling for help.

I ordered a sim card yesterday and I used a phone imei that passed the verification. I wasn't planning on using that phone to activate the card when it arrives. I did some more reading and it looks like the sim may need to be activated in that phone and I can not swap phones for 120 days. Is that accurate? Can I activate the sim in another Sprint phone?

https://refer.sprint.com/public/home.pg

scroll down and you will see for yourself. looks like sprint updated now since the last time wiki has mentioned that referral program works with same link.
