Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

If they don't recognize the E4 when ordering a sim, order the sim for the Samsung S8+, it's the same sim card. You want sim card SIMOLW416Q, the ISIM sim card.

Damn, maybe it is better to just go to Best Buy and buy the SIM. Phone will be here Thursday. Can a new line be added (ported) to existing free plan via chat?

My Dad was the lone holdout when moving 4 of 5 lines from T-Mobile to Sprint. He loves his T-Mobile branded LG G2. I told him if he stays there with a single line his bill will be high. I was right of course, and Mom is going to force him to get a new phone and move to Sprint. I suggested the Moto E4. Similar in size and easy to use.

Question: If a hard credit pull to create a new account is no problem (using his info) is it easier to do that or add a line to the *free* Sprint plan we already have established?

I don't want to run all over town looking for the right SIM card, so I would be ordering the correct SIM in the OP for the Moto E4 direct from Sprint. I honestly don't feel like sitting on the phone forever to add a new line and have them accidentally screw my plan up.

TLDR; Is it easier to add a line to existing free plan or set up a new one for my Dad?

Do they send the right SIM for the Moto E4 when signing up online?
Either way you do is similar amount of work. You will need to port out the line and then port into the free plan. It's probably better to add a paid line to free plan but make sure they make no changes to free plan. That will save dads ssn for future sprint deals after the free year is up.

I suggest getting the sprint moto e4 from Best Buy its $2.49 a month with $60 gift card. Should come with the correct SIM card and can be reused on the free plan.

If you try to use the SSN that was on the original account, they simply reactivate the original account and put you on a paid plan. You cannot port out and then back in using the same SSN and get the free plan.

If they didn't do it this way, then every Sprint customer could get free service. If your SSN is attached to a paid plan, you cannot get this free plan using your SSN even if you port out and then back in.

What if I (a current Sprint customer) close my account (lose my number), then port in a brand new number from T-Mobile? Will I be eligible then?

Of course not. Like I said, it is about your SSN. It has nothing at all to do with phone number. Your account is tied to your SSN, not your phone number.

You need to use someone else's SSN - spouse, SO, adult child, parent, etc. With their consent of course.

How long a wait after closing my Sprint account would I no longer be considered a customer and be eligible for this promotion, do you know? Ignoring that the promotion may end at any time.

No one here has done it so we don't know. For Verizon, it is 60 days. Sprint may be similar or may not be similar.

maybe I just missed that being said then. I've seen a number of people mention porting their lines out to port back in, but haven't seen anyone mention having to use someone else to setup the new account. Frown

I have been following this thread from the beginning and I haven't seen anyone be able to port out and back in using the same SSN and get a free line. They ported back into an account with a different SSN.
I ported out and ported back in with my same SSN. Once I ported out, I waited a couple of days and used a different cell phone number to port back in (since I didn't want any more issues with my real number should there be mishaps), but it worked. I went from a $45/mo "temp plan" to the free plan immediately. I did have some extra Sprint SIM cards on hand when I called the promo number so I didn't need to order any more. And, my original account was completely closed after I ported out. I don't think they re-open accounts once they're closed.

I'm on vzw prepaid, wife is on tmo prepaid. i got the two sims. she has moto g4 i have g5+, i activated mine yesterday (since we're different carriers figured to do them separate), got an activation code emailed (with a title 'order number - null). but alas, it's not working. i called the 8777 number and the guy couldnt find me in the system and when he looked up something he hung up on me, convenient.
tried activating again, and it just has the yellow lines moving with no progress.
vzw prepaid account # is just the 4 digits of your phone no, right?

Verizon Prepaid
Account Number is 10 digits, a dash ( - ) and 00001 (0123456789-00001). and the password is your 4 digit security PIN(default last 4 digits of phone number).
You can also get your account number without calling in (reader tip):
1. Log in to your Verizon Prepaid account
2. Right click anywhere on the page
3. Select "View Source"
4. Open a browser search box (CTRL + F on a PC, Command + F on a Mac)
5. Search for accountNumber (without the quoted)
6. Note the number listed next to accountNumber is your account number

I got order number null for my first activation too means the order didnt go through. You have to activate again.

If it doesn't work online at sprint.com/activatenow you will need to call in the special promo number. They will probably ask you all your personal info again.

Off topic.. I got this deal for my parents, yup they're happy and all from paying $60 or so to just $6.something. I added a third line to just try it out ( i have main line elsewhere). Besides porting number out to take advantage of a better deal later on, any other benefits you guys could think of ?

My wife begrudgingly allowed me to convert her At&t line (mine is covered by my employer)...so far not off to a good start

1. Activation failed and had to call back spending 45 minutes between their phone answering machine determined to make it impossible to speak to a human being
2. Then once it finally got activated my house has no service, thank goodness for Wifi Calling, but it makes me wonder about other areas -- by the way I'm the burbs of Dallas --- shouldn't have any problem.

$90 a month is nice savings, but it has to work....we'll see...

Sure, but you have to have automatic debit otherwise pay $5 more per line
