Would an unlocked att refurb iPhone 7 Plus work? Walmart is selling a locked one but att would unlock it right?

Does just signing up today alert your current phone company, or only once you put the SIM card in and activate? I want to switch but have an account that is in contract until 9/28.
If you sign up today, your number will be ported to Sprint today and existing line will be cancelled. Number porting will not wait for you to put the SIM card in and activate.
At least this happened with me. My line was cancelled immediately after the call.
This will also break the contract and you might have to pay the penalty as per their terms & conditions.
I think you should do it on 9/29 when contract is over.

So as long as you have a sim and IMEI you can port over? My BYOD phone is broken.

On a separate note how good is sprints international package added onto this plan for $15/month . On their website it says unlimited calls to India landline and mobile for $15/month. Is anyone else using it ? I need to make international calls often.
If it's only India, you can try Rebtel $10/month unlimited India plan.

It should work if everything goes fine. I have not tried this so not 100% sure. Representative will say, put the SIM inside the phone and restart your phone for it to activate.

It depends whether it's the model with Qualcomm chip that can be used for gsm and cdma networks, A1661 model. The ones sold at att and T-Mobile stores can only use on gsm networks, A1784 model.

Online site was having some technical issue. So, had to call-in. I activated 2 lines in a single call.

I had this problem and am posting a reply for others who might have run into this.

You should manually dial *73 immediately followed by your GV number to initiate forwarding. The forwarding numbers that Sprint provided Google to set up and cancel forwarding are old/ incorrect. Use *73 and *730 to set up and cancel VM forwarding, respectively.

The error message in GV regarding the unavailability of Sprint integration just means that our new Sprint numbers won't integrate with GV such that everything will appear to come from one number for seamless use. Instead, GV will just continue to operate the way it has for us with other carriers, as 2 numbers-- our carrier and Google voice numbers.

I haven't been able to solve this problem and I've tried.
I've spoken to the Sprint Network Engineers and they have no clue, (Very, very advanced level of tech support at Sprint).
Google voice people have no clue either.

Now, all this wont matter since Sprint will merge into T-Mobile soon:

http://bgr.com/2017/09/25/t-mobil...cial-date/

So it seems the time to get the 1 year free is running out fast and a year from now we'll have to see what T-Mobile offers.

Did you try the above? Go to the Google voice legacy page (desktop site) and check the box to allow forwarding to your cell. It's probably already checked from your last provider. I unchecked it, let it save, then rechecked it. Don't bother with the link that reads "check link for Sprint eligibility." We're not eligible as new Sprint users. Then click edit, and under carrier click check provider so that it says Sprint. Rename the box at the top if you like then hit save. Then, using the native phone dialer, dial *730 to make sure no forwarding is in place and then dial *73 followed by your GV# without a 1, just *732125551212, if your GV# were 2125551212. You can then return to the GV page to change your greeting to your personal greeting instead of the Sprint one it will likely default to. HTH This page might also have some helpful info https://community.sprint.com/t5/G...d-p/348100

Yikes. Thanks for the info. I'm going to do the online order of the SIM cards, so may have to wait a couple days for their delivery. This could be a pain if we are without working phones.

I did the online signup. The online signup is just for the credit check and to order SIM cards. I don't believe your current phone company would know.

Signing up would immediately port out the line in question so you would be hit with a very small pro-rated ETF. I would wait until the contract actually expires before signing up at Sprint's site, which give you a 2 day workaround (since it expires Sept 30) but safer then getting a nasty ETF surprise for me at least
