The issue with buying while on the free account is that Apple will contact Sprint to set up activation. So Sprint will know about the new device since it will be charging an activation fee for it. The question (as you know) is whether Sprint considers this an upgrade or not. No one has tried this in this entire thread (that I'm aware of - I've been here since the beginning). It is an unknown. In my opinion, it should NOT be considered an upgrade. But I can't vouch for what Sprint will consider it.

If you decide to test it out, please report back. Worst that will happen (if they switch you to a paid plan) is you'll need to port that one line out and back in again (assuming the deal hasn't ended at that point).
Apple may charge Sprint a decent commission (they always charge every partner for anything) which would lead Sprint to require it to be an upgrade.

Has anyone switch ovwr a iPhone 8 on the free year plan? Is the iPhone 8 and iPhone x supported?
Iphone 8 (and plus), yes, but need CDMA or SIM Free model. Iphone X, likely, but it won't be out before the scheduled end of this free year offer.

BTW, likely NOT compatible with the Iphone Upgrade Program.

Anyone remember RingPlus... yeah ..

TMobile is trying to buy Sprint... Sprint was the backbone for RingPlus

Sprint also serves most of FreedomPop and a bunch of the other low cost MVNOs

Its going to suck when TMoble kills Freedompop or when Freedompop is forced to end their free accounts... It will happen.. they may still be low cost but they won't be free.

I'm sure this risk is one of the reasons that Freedompop has been pushing the AT&T LTE SIMs very heavily for the past few years.

Was able to port two lines from Verizon to Sprint via 866-782-8777. Took around an hour for activation and porting. Phone call quality is good, text messaging sent and received is slow, internet is slow, but can't complain with free. After 12 months, if they don't improve, will definitely move to other carrier. Thanks SD.

ATT is only a patch for them to get coverage where sprint cant.. most of their customers are on Sprint

I hope they continue though but Sprint had to give MVNOs and Charities really special data deals after their last big merger.. some of those Charity Organizations offer hotspots in your home 4g actual unlimited for like 35 a month .. ATT won't be anything like that .. and TMobile will shut that down

I have been sick and can't read anymore then what i did so ill ask this question. I have 8 lines of service with sprint and want to cancel 2 lines that i am overpaying for. I have great credit with them. If i close those 2 lines is there anyway i can take advantage of this since i can open new lines of service.

no. you have to port out and port back in. still Sprint might block you because they know you've just moved out from them.

Does it pass ting byod checker for cdma? The ting checker can push imei to sprint whitelist for eligible phones. Just not sure if for iphones only. Try it and report back. Also what phone note 8?

Thanks for sharing. Did the June 2017 promotion end at some point and is this a new promotion?

I was looking at this promotion earlier because a friend may be switching carriers.

hmm.. because 3 Sprint rep didn't have any clue and phone failed activation, that made sense to me. If it works great!
