Has anyone tried to use the $1 LG X Charge from Xfinity Mobile on this plan? It's listed as one of the eligible phone, but sprint website says not compatible.

As a new customer, I just port out my new account for the essential phone deal. Account is empty without any other lines now. Not sure if I can port in two new numbers to the one year free deal tomorrow. Anyone has this kind of experience? Thanks.

If you created a paid Sprint account to get the Essential, no. You would need a relative or friend to open the free account with their SS#, and then port in will be no problem. Free plan is for new Sprint accounts only.

Tried to add a line with a Google Voice number, but was told that it is not eligible. Their system may have changed.

its not dumb rule. Those phones are GSM phones and doesnt support CDMA bands.
ex: look @ specs of iphone 7..

so if you have sprint phone, you can unlock and use it on tmobile and ATandT , but not the other way . You can use them , but you will end up not have good connection and you will be calling the service provider causing headache for them

Model A1660*
Model A1661*
FDD-LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30)

GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
Model A1778*
Model A1784*

Models A1778 and A1784 do not support CDMA networks, such as those used by Verizon and Sprint.

I wonder If we will get Hulu. Sprint is going to be giving away Hulu to sprint unlimited plans.
Nope. Look under the bottom of the page for "Are there any exclusions?"
https://www.sprint.com/en/support.../hulu.html
"Phone lines on Seasonal Standby or BYOD-Unlimited are excluded"

Yes, but if you have any paid lines on your BYOD Free Account (maybe opened for the Essential deal), they will be eligible.

True, but different firmware (ROM) for the different carrier versions, and that firmware enables different bands depending on the carrier. For that reason, Sprint put only the IMEI's for the Sprint model and the Universal/ "Unlocked" version in its database.

So even if you flash the Sprint ROM onto a Verizom etc. phone, you will not be able to activate it unless you are extraordinarily persuasive and get a store manager to add it to the IMEI database. No Sprint employee is going to do so because they have been advised that only the Sprint and Universal versions are compatible with their network.

What is the least expensive line you can add on the BYOD plan?

Will be buying one of those on a sprint account.

Also at BB will be the Moto z2 Play from VZW for $7.99 x 24. Not as great a "deal" as the LG G6, but it is the only universally unlocked "cheap" phone from vzw and thus on the Sprint approved list. The iPhone and google/pixels are the same, but at higher price points.

The added bonus of buying the VZW Moto z2 play from BB, if you are facing a VZW ETF (those like me who still have 1 under 2 year contracts) is that BB will knock off the ETF from VZW as well. That's an exclusive to BB I believe. Roughly $200 + taxes wipes out a still $350 ETF for me, and gives a kiddo a new phone as well. . .a a carrier friendly phone if we take it somewhere else after BYOD promo is over.
In order to buy the z2 , won't you have to sign up with Verizon , pay activation fee , etc ? And isn't only unlocked for the GSM carriers (TMO, ATT) ?

I believe $45/mo.
Not worth it unless you can capitalize on phone deals every couple months to cover the cost.

Its a shame, I have unlocked s8/s8+ but they are both originally carrier branded to TMO/VZW

G5 Plus 32gb is $170 at Costco, I think unlocked.
