Just make sure that you set a voicemail PIN for your Google Voice account. I never had one, and it's required to port the number because that acts as your account PIN. The carrier account number is just simply the GV phone number itself.

I want to purchase the $99 iPhone SE from Boost Mobile. I want to ask if anybody knows if this can work directly with Sprint one year free plan.

(Not sure if this was asked before and buried in the thread, I apologize if this was).

No it is 12 months from when you opened your first line, even for lines added later.

No, unfortunately it will have the same end date as your original line.

(sorry for duplicate post - system is acting funky).

I currently have a Nexus 5x on Google Fi. The phone is dead and I want to port into Sprint with a new iPhone. After reading the thread, it looks like this plan will work, but please confirm Smilie

1. Port Google Fi number to Google Voice - this should automatically cancel Google Fi service.
2. Do compatibility check with Sprint BYOD using GV number and the new iPhone ESN/etc.
3. Get Sprint Sim, activate service. No need to "flip switch" on any ESN because the new iPhone will never have been active on Google Fi.

The Boost and Virgin iPhones are not on the Sprint whitelist to be included. One way is to talk to a Sprint store manager to add the iPhone's IMEI to the Sprint database.

Hi,
I have read some of the thread so bear with me if it is mentioned somewhere that I missed. I was planning to add a new line for a family member. I have a verizon 5s phone that is currently not being used (my older phone). I dont have a sprint account. I do have a sprint SIM card from apple store that i got a year back to try ring but never got around to. The only thing i dont have is a phone line for the family member to port out.

Can i still get this free sprint service as in with a new number? If not, what is the least painful way of getting a temporary number on that iphone and then porting that out to sprint to avail of this offer? My spouse has a prepaid basic phone number from Tmobil that I could use (it isnt a smarphone), but prefer not to mess that up.

thank you

EDIT: Funny, same or similar question just when i hit the send button. So guess i am not the only one thinking along those lines
You need to port in a number.

I activated a TMobile BYOD SIM card as a new number. Then, I ported the TMobile number to Sprint using an older Sprint nano SIM card and an unlocked AT&T iPhone 6s.

If it is verizon version with sim unlocked, it will not be on sprint whitelist.
If it is unlocked version it wont work if it was on sprint mvno until plbl flag is cleared.

I think the wiki for this thread lists all devices that are compatible.

But as also mentioned, the particular device needs to be checked on the Sprint site.

Thanks. Or as someone above said, i guess i could setup a google voice number (isnt the first one free) and then port it out.

If I buy a iPhone 7 at the apple store, do I select Verizon option or sim free to activate later?
