Ah ok. I thought I saw something somewhere where you can't switch phones.

Not sure why you asked for an Apple SIM. Those are only for iPads, as you mentioned. The Sprint SIM should work.
Was a misunderstanding.

The 3rd Sprint (after waiting on hold over 32 minutes AND calling twice from another phone into that store while on hold) store I called was the one that gave me the hint of going to an Apple store. He was vague and said that the Apple store can give out a free SIM that'll work.

Me: So, an Apple SIM will work for this?
Sprint guy: Yeah.

I've seen SIMs w/the Apple logo come in some iOS devices like iPads w/cellular before. At the time, I didn't realize I was supposed to get a free Sprint SIM from the Apple store since I never thought they'd be giving such things out. The Sprint worker might not have known either.

At that point in time, I'd already spent at least 10 minutes on the phone w/the worthless Sprint number folks after hitting an error at the end of signing up for this plan online (which directed me to call 866-275-1411, don't bother!), at least 30+ minutes on the phone w/the correct # folks, gone to a Sprint store to tell me no, we have no SIMs to give out and tried calling 3 other Sprint stores (2 corporate).

Fortunately, the Apple Store worker had an Apple SIM brought out AND told me he could give me a free Sprint SIM, as well. I figured I could have both in hand, in case 1 didn't work.

I do find it weird that Sprint has all these different SIMs even in the same form factor (e.g. nano SIM) for various phone models. Years ago, I got 2 generic T-Mobile SIMs w/service that could adapted to various sizes depending on how much plastic you leave on and they've worked just fine in devices ranging from iPhone 5 to X to cellular iPads to even an Android phone. I've personally used prepaid SIMs from the UK, Japan and Singapore in my unlocked iPhone 6 w/o issue. There aren't special SIMs for iPhone 6.

But yes, the free Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile, Sprint SIM part # SIMGLW416Q I got free from the Apple Store worked.

Good luck and let us know.

If you post or at least look at the first and third lines of Settings / About / Service Provider SW Ver. it will be helpful.

Looks like I'm SOL. This is what I have SM-G950UZVAVZW. I thought I had an unlocked phone but was apparently sent a VZW model. Samsung refused to change it now that it has been 7 months since I bought it.

Yeah, Sprint's SIM issues are ridiculous. And the fact that you can't just swap SIMs to change phones is even harder to believe in this day and age. They're the only carrier with these issues. They really need to modernize their tech.

I feared as much re the VZW.
If you have an invoice that says it was to be the unbranded model then I would ask for replacement within the one year warranty since it will not activate on Sprint - and insist the replacement match the invoice.

I believe the Verizon model is not locked, but that is unfortunately not the same thing as being the unbranded model (which people call the "unlocked model") that has the bands for all carriers.

You could actually flash it to the ROM for the unbranded model but unfortunately that would not help because Sprint goes strictly by the IMEI and is not willing to add S8 IMEI's to the database on the basis that they have been user-flashed to a different ROM than what their IMEI indicates.

Give it a try anyway. I don't see why not if you have a credit rating at the reporting agencies.

Do all lines need to be activated at the same time?

I signed up 3 of the my lines however I won't have access to two of them for a week. Can I just activate one and do the other two in a week?

Is the MOT E4 on the approved eligible list? There is a link you can click to see if your phone is eligible. If it is, get a sim at Best Buy for $5 or check your local apple store, some slick-dealers say they give them away for free. After that, call up the number and go thru the process.

I myself am extremely satisfied with Sprints service. In my area, they rolled out upgrades the past two months and I am getting 30-80mbps speeds. Freakin awesome for 1 yr free plus the merger talks???!!! It will only get better IMO.

Have you or anyone you know tried to activate the free Hulu offer for Sprint? I have 3 BYOD lines I ported over from T-mobile. I plan to keep all my lines with Sprint.

See attached.

Yesterday I called tele sales and ported 2 numbers under the BYOD promo plan from Google voice to add to my account, today port in is complete and numbers are active on Sprint, however when I check my Sprint account these 2 new lines are showing $45 2GB plan.

Did this happen to anyone and how to resolve this (call tele sales or customer service)?

This happens when folks do not follow the wiki. Not sure something can be done. Few folks have got it corrected by calling the promo number and also emailing a sprint employee.. search this thread for it. If nothing works get out of the plan within 14 days. Open new account on your spouses name or family member and port back ..

For folks to avoid this - ask this Q's when trying to get this plan.
Did you call the promo number listed in wiki? Did you ask them for BYOD Free plan? Did you ask them to read out the plan, charges and ask them to send a email and confirm what the plan is?

As long as the lines are already setup and ported it should not matter is what I believe
