Since what you are trying to do is not in the best interest of Sprint, I would suggest you do the followings:
1. Swap dummy IMEIs onto your existing lines online and then call/chat with Sprint to remove/dissociate real IMEIs of devices you want to use on the BYOD 1yearfree account or any real device that don't want Sprint to blacklist. The removal/dissociation is successful after you no longer see them under your device history online.
2. If you want to reuse the SIMs in the future, do the same as above and swap them with dummy ICCIDs; else, destroy them and never insert them into any device.
3. Quietly port the lines out to close the account after having done the above and hope for the best.
4. Swap real IMEIs onto your existing BYOD 1yearfree account and enjoy.
As usual, there is always risk. If Sprint employees catch you, they will do whatever they want to your devices and account regardless of whether you are right or wrong. You will have to spend a lot of time and energy to get things fixed if you are right. To them, you are always guilty until proven innocent. This is not to say that all Sprint employees are bad/evil, but any deal that gets a lot of attention always brings out the worst in them (Sprint employees) when they started to see a lot of hits and runs.
Without knowing the history and part number of your iPhone 6s, I am going to use my crystal ball and guess that either the user profile is not provisioned properly or the PRL is not updated, assuming that you have the correct SIM card already. Do the following as edog11 has posted a few times and report back:

You don't have to do the Canadian CSC anymore; the core firmware is now the same for all. It does take some time to switch SIM with the XAA's multi-CSC, especially Sprint SIM, because it needs to provision the CDMA profile onto the phone; unlike AT&T which only depends on the SIM card, where you can just "plug-and-play,"
1. Data is not provisioned completely from Sprint side. This usually resolves itself within 48 hours.
2. Data is not provisioned correctly on your phone. This could be incorrect SIM, faulty SIM, or the user profile on your phone is corrupted. Did you see any error message when updating the user profile?
For (2):
a. what is your SIM part number?
b. If SIM part number is correct, do both factory restore and update using iTunes, and then reactivate.

As one important detail, they should check that the ICCID is identical as displayed in Settings on the phone and as displayed on Sprint.

People on the other thread have posted some detailed instructions, so I am hopeful that it will work.
I called in over the weekend (tried online but their website was giving me error messages) and verified my phone and paid for the sim card. It arrived yesterday. The rep said she would call yesterday to help me activate, but never did. I called in today and now they are telling me since it is a new account, I have to go into a store to activate???
How do i go about activating the sim card/account online?

I'm still waiting for my sim, but this is how they told me to do it in the order confirmation email:
When you get your SIM card(s), go to www.sprint.com/activatenow to activate them, switch your number to Sprint and start enjoying your FREE 1-year of unlimited service.
See you tomorrow at sprint.com/activatenow
Decided to plunge this month as republic wireless plan was ending...
Was able to port the republic wireless # into sprint without any issue (for any any one on this network. and thinking about moving to this deal)

Went to this site www.sprint.com/activatenow and followed instructions.
Ported the # yesterday online , chatted with them said phone will be active by today.
Tried today was not active, so called their CSR and got the porting part done...now it is active

thanks!
But, now that you have closed it, there should still be just enough time to sign up in late January when the 45 days will be up, unless they end the offer before then.
Alternatively, you can do it now under a different SSN (spouse etc.)
