I just got burnt by this promotion. My phone's IMEI was initially cleared for this deal on their web so I ordered a SIM card. After receiving and activating it on sprint.com/activenow, the SIM wouldn't work for hours so I called their support number. The lady asked me for my name, DOB, and social security (did she run another credit check?!?!), and told me the IMEI was locked to a carrier and shows invalid for this offer. I went again online and used their IMEI check for this deal and now it shows this device is not eligible. What the FCK? Anyone know what I should do?

Just for info my phone is a galaxy s8 unlocked and I got the SIM card SIMOLW416Q from sprint.

Thanks. Sprint is just making this switch worse and worse. And I found some codes online *73 and *74 and neither are working, keep getting some recording saying "the feature code you have entered is invalid." Mad

Who did you port from? Did it go through?
The port status check seems to not be working(Saturday night). You could try this link and put in your 10 digit number in url

I am coming from AT&T, the port status says "We need some information in order to complete your number transfer. Please call 888-211-4727 and enter the number you are transferring so we can assist."

Man I just wish they don't start auto charging my credit card for taxes or do shit like that. I feel so bad I had to give all my info, including my SSN and a hard credit check, just for this scam to happen.

It looks like porting issue, you can try number above or there are a few other porting numbers in wiki. Not sure what one is best or hours of operation.
You said you called support hopefully it was the main number for this deal.866-782-8777). You should be ok once you resolve porting issues.
It is not a scam as hundreds if not thousands have gotten free plan. You will be charged tax and fees ranging from $2.50-$6.00 depending on zip code.

I agree that support person was incompetent but it's just a mixup. If it is already underway then it is going to show ineligible to do over. I would say call only the 8777 number not Support. Calling the porting dept. is ok too but for any plan issues you need to call the 8777 number.

If you really want Sprint has a 14-day money back satisfaction guarantee, though.

Thanks, the number I called was the 8777 number. Do I have to cancel my current plan with AT&T for it to work? Would that cause a porting issue?

Hmmm I do not think so.

Really we can separate porting the number from activating the phone.

Is the phone activated on Sprint? That is, does data work with the Sprint sim in it? If so, it is activated and only the porting issue remains -- the porting dept is 888-211-4727 as you know.

We may be past their closing time now though.

No DO NOT cancel your AT&T plan. The AT&T account will be automatically cancelled when port is completed. The porting issue could just be error of account number or correct PIN or other ATT info submitted.

I had a very similar situation happen with me. I was looking into the promotion but didn't have an elgigible phone. I looked on ebay for a phone that had the IMEI listed, and inputted it into Sprint's website and it said it was clear for activation. When I finally got the phone (less than a week later), I went back to the same site, put in the same imei (to start the sign up process) and got some error message saying my device wasn't compatible! It took me 2 hours on the phone to finally get them to verify it was able to be used on their network and send me a sim card. Then when i finally got the sim card, I had all sorts of issues trying to activate. All in all, their systems are screwed up, just keep calling until you reach someone that can help. smdh, Sprint is just SH!T all the way around. This is a free plan, but definitely get what you pay for.

If you upgrade before 120 days you lose the free plan. When did you open free plan?

Yes technically that's true. However, I think that Sprint bears some responsibility if they encouraged it via an invitation to upgrade in their Dashboard and/or failed to warn the person. So I think the person may get some allowance for that if that was the case or of the person was genuinely confused.

Also they may be in the 14-day money back guarantee for the second date mentioned at least.
