I called and they said there was no indication it was expiring today.

They did offer to set up an account even if I was not completely ready to activate today. (In my case I declined because I am waiting to be past 45 days after I closed an earlier account, and because it would be a complication. If it sounded as if it were ending, I would have made a stab at trying to get a new account started even without the 45 days having passed).

I think it will continue. If you want to be ultra cautious and do not have an account at all yet you can call them.
3/29 will be 45 days for me. Fingers crossed. Tick tock. I do have a back-up plan with a neighbor who is on the BYOD but prefer solo account.
This has been a most helpful thread. Thanks

It's looking very promising so far for both of us for around the end of March to get a glorious new 13 months of free service - by the end of which Sprint will have started 5G and may be looking better and better.

I think you may hopefully already have made sure that your account was duly noted as closed by calling Account Services - I did, just to be sure. It was not really necessary as they seem to close ok automatically but I did not want to take any chances,

Did exactly that here. I've been reading up on this 5G as well. Looks like Sprint may be the leader in this. Should go live in 2019. Great!

I opened up one line and am approved for 5. Just to confirm, if tomorrow they end the promotion, I'll still be able to bring the other 4 on. The rep said that I would be able to as long as the promotion is going on, but I doubt he knew what he is talking about.

Nobody can confirm or deny.
My own personal interpretation is that adding lines is done under your original offer in effect at the time you signed up and has nothing to do whether new subscribers are still being taken on under any extended offer.
Some others disagree.

So you think as long as you have an account already under this plan, you can add up to the #of lines approved even after the promo expires and still get the free service? In that case, I am not going to sweat it. As it is now, I have no choice but to find out tomorrow, or whenever Worst Buy decides to actually get the package to UPS...

That's what I think. Some others are not so sure.

So a friend of mine is trying to move from an existing Sprint account to this and wonders if he can port them to TING, then to this free deal.

Does anyone know for sure if TING is eligible source carrier for this?

TING GSM side - Yes.
TING CDMA side - No.

We have had a number of people use Ting.

Thanks for the quick reply. So he is SOL since his phones are somehow locked to Sprint, so can't port to a GSM then back...

He only needs to port the number into another carrier, then back, not necessarily the same phone.
So add in any old GSM phone to the equation (even a fictitious one), for use in porting the number into the other carrier, and it is doable.
When he ports back to Sprint, he can use the original Sprint phone for that again (after not being used on the other carrier). It does not even need a new sim.

Well? It's March. Is the deal still alive?

And the AMOLED's red glare, the Note 7s bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that the deal was still there!

Edit: At least the landing page is still there.

This worked for me. Even if the phone is locked to Sprint, you can still port to Ting GSM. Ting GSM service is linked to the SIM card, not the phone. Ting recognized my service as active, linked to the Ting GSM SIM even though my iphone 6 would not accept the SIM because the phone was locked to Sprint. Without ever getting the phone unlocked from sprint to work on GSM, I called Sprint, and gave them the MEID for the phone and the ICCID for a Sprint SIM card. They successfully ported to the free unlimited plan, and it is now working fine.

I think I'll trial the hotspot for a month. By the way, when did you get the magic box? The one sprint sent me came with a portable Powerbank.
Quote from comintel :
That's the just-released version 3 that you got then.

I got version 2, I think 4 months ago, which had the battery integrated.

They are identical electronically.
I was told by a chat rep that I couldn't get a Magic Box because my account was too new. Just wondering if either of you had this experience and how long should I wait to ask again ?

Yes you can and should do an IMEI swap yourself or with online help from tech. support or just add it as an additional line by portig in another number..
I wanted to swap an iphone 5s to a 6s on a line I already have and use the 5s to get an additional line. Will there be a problem reusing the 5s?
