Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

No, it couldn't be activated to Sprint unless you flash the unlocked ROM and let Sprint add the IMEI to its database.

Thank you. How long does it take to get the Sprint sim card when ordered? My current at&t service ends on the 30th.

Also when my free year is up, how do I cancel my Sprint account. Do I simply port the number out or do I call them telling them to end my service at the end of the billing cycle?
It is up to a few days when ordered from Sprint. It should easily be here in time. You can also buy the sim locally if you look up which sim variant is required for your phone, Apple stores have sims for iPhones usually free.

It is usually better to avoid the web enrolment and call instead 866-782-8777 for everything..

Porting out will close the account nicely.

Thanks for the reply. Looks like I may have been putting in the wrong number. I fixed it and now Ting says its compatible with cdma and gsm.

Question for you or anyone else: Is there any need or real benefit to flashing a different ROM? Xfinity doesn't really have much bloat on the phone.

Sprint is not willing to whitelist those individually any more in general. They have internal guidelines that limit it.

BUT I think it is likely they will eventually enable all U.S. Note 8 branded IMEI's once a brand switching enabling update is published by Samsung for all branded Note8's which seems to be beginning. Xfinity S8's were eventually included and I think you will see the same for XFinity Note 8's.

To test if brand switching is already on your phone, insert a Sprint sim and see if it switches brand to Sprint. It might not work though in this situation. Once it does work, you would have a strong case for white listing.

Try the IMEI once a month or whatever at https://www.sprint.com/en/shop/br...print.html which is more informative sometimes than the lookup in the web pages for this offer.

So even though (as I updated in my other post) Ting says it is compatible with both GSM and CDMA it will not work with Sprint? Just to be clear plan to port it into an account I already have. I am not using it to start a new account.

Yeah, I guess I'll just wait until my yr is up then port it then. I just wanted to get rid of my landline bill asap since I don't even use it.

I used to pay about $50+ for a landline I never used. Bought an OBI about 5 years ago and set up Google Voice on it. Haven't paid a home phone bill since those 5 years and I still have home phone service. I also have GV ring both my home phone as well as cell phone so that way when I am home, I can just pick up the cordless home phone to answer/initiate calls since it's more comfortable.

Ah that's more like what I thought would happen.

What does the other Sprint address say?

Sprint Galazy S5 should work but if it was on an MVNO you will have to get it pushed back to Postpaid. Try it on the Tello checker. If it works there that supports this theory. Search on LiterallyUnlimited in this thread for more info.

Also try it at https://www.sprint.com/en/shop/br...print.html and see what exact error it gives.
Thanks for the reply.
Originally I was getting a message saying I owed money. I was able to get Ting to push the ownership code back to SPCS

That site says "The Sprint network will work for you
4G Your network speed
Good news, your phone is compatible with our network."

Tello says "Awesome!
Your phone wants to join Tello!"

But the Sprint 1 year free site says "Ineligible, this phone does not qualify for this offer", and when I call in, they basically say it needs to be one of the phones on the list to qualify.

Mindless script readers. I would not even indicate what model phone it is when calling. Just give them the bare minimum info: the MEID. If they still say no go, ask to be put in touch with tier two tech support so that they can research the reason that they won't activate it.

Those sales staff do not know reasons - they just make them up.
Are you sure your phone number is good? Try it with a different non-Sprint-related number.
Other than that, you may need to IMEI swap it on.

The problems with ordering the offer thrugh the web go way beyond sim ordering - the later steps can get messed up.

Exactly right and that might have been what went wrong if they did not get to the point of actually entering it. Never ask them any questions about what qualifies. We do not want their worthless guesses, we want them to type in the MEID and phone number and see what the system says and nothing more. If you asked quetions about what qualifies that explains it because they will interpret that as a request for a guess. Just give them MEID and phone number and nothing more until that is entered. If they ask what model say it is a Samsung Galaxy and nothing more.

Also you can tell them it passed the online check.

I have activated 3 Sprint phones none of which were on the list, including even an old flip phone with no sim.

I have a recently unlocked iPhone SE that was originally locked to AT&T prepaid (which ends this month). I put in my imei and phone # and it says my phone is compatible with the promotion. Can I by a sprint SIM at best buy? I rather buy through a retail store and call up to order and activate.
