Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Any recommendations for a quick/cheap way to get t-mobile sim for android phone to port out & back in? Are they just $10 in t-mobile store? T-mobile website shows $25 less $15 credit for buying online, so I wasn't sure if store had similar pricing. Would order online, but I figured I should try to get this done today with the merger announcement.
It depends on the store, some will match the online price and others not.
It must be a T-mo company store not a dealer store.

Sprint promised one year free very explicitly and we are paying for it. That makes a binding legal contract in my opinion. The "new TMo" company will assume all contracts of the two older companies. This is not an assets-only takeover.

Also the FCC and other agencies will make it a condition of approval that all existing contracts and promises be honored (a prepaid or month to month contract is still a contract in the legal sense). In fact the companies will volunteer that up front to make everything look ready to approve.

As to Tello, again they will make it look like all roses up front to get regulatory approval. A year or two later might be a different story. But Tello, and Mint on the TMO side, are probably looked at as assets. Do you think they are going to throw away those subscribers to the competition casually? They might increase their costs though down the road which might make them less viable. Indeed, the free plan may already be a bid for the same customers. Also even TMO may view it as a worthwhile experiment.
hope you are right...
but without a contract..i think sprint ...new sprint..new tmobile can change the terms any time.

while not the same...we all know what happened to RingPlus

The new company will not alienate all these customers.
I understand that around a quarter of a million subscribers took this free offer and it makes no sense to lose them, especially now when customer retention is so important in this industry and the marketing costs to acquire new customers is pretty high.

Sprint's CDMA system will be abandoned and the new company will be all GSM.
So get rid of all the Sprint CDMA devices asap! 5G is the future and implementation will start within a year or so.
I believe a lot of Sprint phones are actually capable of working with gsm and cdma, and therefore could be the best devices for using both legacy networks.

Interesting to see how it plays out.

what happened to Ringplus is Sprint pulled the rug out from under them.

And apparently decided to promote "free" service under their own name, hence this deal exists.

The whole Ringplus experiment was probably done to see how effective it could be.

I agree with you they won't end it prematurely.

On the other hand, we customers won't have much of a claim over losing "free" service since we aren't paying for it we aren't "losing" anything we could sue over.

I can use the SSN of my family member to open a new line.

But if I do it this way, it means this new line will not be under my name, right? I.e., can I use my family member's SSN to open a line under my name?

If it is NOT under my name, can I use my credit card to pay for the monthly bill?

First find out your last savings date. I think it may be July 31 from when you signed up. Do not assume it is June 30. It is on your Dashboard if you expand plan details.

You can also call Sprint Cancellations/Retentions Dept. and they will look up the exact date and will make you some special offers that they have already prepared for people on this plan. Do not call Telesales as they do not even know the dates correctly - they are just sales. Start with any general number and ask for Cancellations.

You cannot extend the offer without completely quitting Sprint for 45 days first OR opening another account under a different person's SSN (spouse or relative).

The phones can be ported in immediately with the same sims.

The offer will be over by then in my estimation and you would be better off doing it now if you have a
spouse or family member with an different SSN that can be used.

I went to the dashboard and expanded the plan detail, but I did not see the last savings date. I clicked and looked everywhere, but still to no avail. Can you point me to the right direction?

Others would know better than me so I will leave it to them to comment.

Or call and see what you can work out that both sides are comfortable with. You can just call it "a second plan to be able to add more lines". You do not have to say you will cancel the original plan later.

Personally I would just explain the situation fairly candidly and ask them if they can do it. The best time to negotiate is always when you are ready to act and not dealing with hypotheticals. They do not have time for hypotheticals either. So see if you can line up another phone to port in and call and try and do it for that one. Or get one for him.

I think your second option would be fine. The credit card companies are flexible and you can just call yours and work out how to do it.

Nope. I had my mom set up my account (since I was already a SERO customer), and she's in a different city hundreds of miles away. Just need 5 key pieces of info:

1. phone number
2. pin
3. meid
4. iccid
5. ssn

When porting out from Sprint BOYD, do I need to call Sprint to cancel the plan? If yes, when do I need to call Sprint, before or after porting? And which number to call for cancellation?

if you have only 1 line ..then porting it out is effectively cancelling the account.

so no , u dont need to call sprint to cancel.

however..it may be a good idea to confirm it is cancelled..say 1 week after port is complete

If I have 5 lines on a sprint plan, can I port out say just 2 of them and then port back in to get this deal again? I want to double down on this deal but some family members think too much work.
