Try to call early in the day, maybe around 9am. Try to avoid calling close to closing time.
Always, give them a tel. # to call you back if disconnected at the beginning of the call.

But even then, it depends on the rep, some will call back others no. Also some reps are more greedy, and they just want to go to the next prospect.
I was once hung up twice and no call backs but the 3rd rep was excellent and did the job properly. I was calling back after the store ID check, so some of these reps probably thought that there wasn't much for them to handle the job and they went for more prospective customers, perhaps first time callers.

But that's life, you've got to overcome such obstacles, take it to the finish, and get the job done.
Thanks HunterOne I did take it to the finish and got it done.

Great, way to go my friend!
Now, the next challenge for all here who have managed to get the Moto G6 Play into the BYOD free plan is to try to get it unlocked AFTER the 50 day waiting period and see how it goes then.

I doubt either Sprint or Boost will unlock them even after 50 days. They are Boost devices so Sprint will apply Boost policies in my guess. You *might* get lucky on that on a technicality but I would not count on it. It is almost never possible to unlock Boost devices until they have a year of paid service. That policy is usually displayed right on the outside of the Boost box.

Sprint's 50-day unlock policy has exceptions and weasel clauses that they may use in this case in my opinion. They may make it conditional on first paying off one full year of paid Boost service as required by Boost policy.

There are other Boost phones that people on XDA have been trying to root/unlock for over a year without success (e.g LS676). GSM-only unlock may be possible.
Thanks to you and HunterOne I got this done. I know the risk and if I could find another Moto G5 + I would but at this point for $80 and 14 months of service it will be fine even if it doesn't get unlocked. We will have to see what the service is like. One thing they did mention on the phone while reading me the terms---the PHONE # cannot be changed so I hope I got a decent one---so it won't be ringing all the time.

A special thank You to all of you that have helped everyone in this thread. Wish I would have signed up for this a year ago Smilie.

Some of them do say that re changing the phone number. But the sales reps are not necessarily right. I do not see anything in the web page offer that says you cannot do it. I think thesales reps mainly mean "please don't ask me to do it because it is complicated and I do not get any commission for it."

Some people have ported in numbers on top of the original one via tech. support but one person did post that he could not.

For all here who may be interested about the Moto G6 Play, read this post by Geocacher99.
It seems to be fairly available around the USA with many Walmart stores having a couple or more:

https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=115626083&postcount=18973

BUT, keep in mind that this may be a Sprint systems glitch that may be corrected at any time.
In that case, Walmart has a 15 day return policy, should you have to return it.
Do not open the box until after the Sprint rep manages to accept the phone, port the #, and you're at the testing phase of service to configure and activate the device. There is no need to open the box as the IMEI and the ICCD are printed on the outside of the box.

Man, you should know better than to ask such an elementary question without looking at the thread's Wiki first, since you've been around since 2005, for 13 years now!!!

In any case, it's in the Wiki by zip code, and it's around $4+/-/Line.

I am thinking of porting to MetroPCS, get the rebate for 2 months free (rebate in form of prepaid visa/mastercard) and port back in to Sprint. Sprint page says it got extended till 7/31/2019 if you sign up now, sure it not indicative of anything, but I think they might extend this offer for 2 more months. If they don't I will just buy Red Pocket for 1 year for 60$ from eBay with 100 Min, 100 Texts, 500MB LTE as I hardly ever exceed that much.
Just make sure you read the terms for that deal, they make it kind of tricky to get the full benefit of the deal.

You cannot cancel a line or account, either one, that precisely. You have to go through Retentions. It can take weeks waiting for end of billing cycle before the phone frees up.

You have to either port the number out, or, swap another phone on, to get a prompt release.

Inyour case, I would just swap the Nexus onto account 1. That will force off the S8 immediately and you can create a new account with it immediately.

There is no need to touch any sims and you should not do so.

Later you can cancel Account 1 without waiting on that step.

You could do it your way too but you will have to have a boring phone call with Retentions to cancel and then wait a couple of weeks or whatever.
Super helpful, I didn't take into account that I'd have to wait until end of billing cycle to free up the S8. Thanks for that!

Check the status here - http://shop2.sprint.com/NASApp/on...uestStatus

Enter you number on right side and see status, mine said FreedomPop/Carrier confirmed the port and port will happen in 6-8 days or something, call this number to expedite the port, I called the number and it was done. For me it took FreedomPop 12 hours to confirm and then call to Sprint Porting Department took like 5 minutes to expedite the port

Thanks. It seems the porting is on the right way. It says my old provider authorized the porting. It will take a while.
