Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

So, here are my dumb questions:

First, why is there so much excitement about porting a Google Voice number? That doesn't bypass the need for a device or anything, does it? Doesn't that just mean you get to keep the same phone number?

Second, am I correct that the device I use for this deal does not have to be the same device that I currently use with a competitor? I am coming from an AT&T MVNO with a device that is not on the "approved" list, so obviously I would have to buy a new device (and make sure it is a Sprint-compatible model with a compatible SIM). Does this disqualify me?

Finally, what is the consensus regarding which of these devices is the best bang for the buck? Like I said, I'd have to buy brand new devices just for this, and I note that there are some comments about certain devices having better results than others. I have spent hours pouring through this and other threads, but I haven't seen any one device discussed as "the best choice" for someone who is buying a brand new device just for this deal.

I put my Amazon lock screen ads moto G4 to see if it is qualify
but I got
"Sorry, but our records show you still owe Sprint for this device. Sign in to find this device on your account."

that surprised me, the device was purchased from unlocked Amazon version with Amazon lock screen ads from Amazon, how this "owe Sprint for this device"

I see the comment saying that most Sprint phones can be used for this. Anyone have success with Samsung Galaxy Note 4?

Also, I'm considering getting a device through this to use as a hotspot for other devices. Is there any reason that wouldn't work?

For example, buy whatever the cheapest phone is I can buy, set it up through this, then use it as a "router" to connect my laptop and tablet to the internet while traveling. I noticed comments about "no hotspot," but it seems like that's saying you can't get free use of Sprint's hostpots (at restaurants and such), not that you can't use your own device to "tether" other devices to the Internet.

I'm sorry, but I'm an extreme tech noob here, so any help is welcome.

If you used it on an mvno such as Tello etc. you will have to get the mvno flag flipped to use it on Postpaid. Search LiterallyUnlimited in this thread for how to do that.
That is the actual cause of that poorly-worded message.

Sprint listed expiry date as June 30 in an automated message/ad yesterday posted here.
It might or might not be reoffered in July.
However they are introducing a new promo today for $15 a month with no expiry so you win either way. The new one may be the better deal anyway because it does not expire in a year..

wonder how long they allow you to stay with the new plan...

Indefinitely according to Sprint.

The deal is a limited-time offer, available for a few weeks, though an end date was not specified. And just how long Sprint's $15-a-month "Unlimited Kickstart" plan will last for those who sign up for it isn't clear. For now, Allan Samson, Sprint's senior vice president of acquisition marketing, says consumers who take advantage of the deal will be able to keep the low monthly rates for the foreseeable future.
"Once you're on the promotion there is no step up," Samson says. "You get in during this limited time window, you are going to enjoy that rate for a very, very long time."

Lawyers would never let them say "forever" but he says there will be no step-up in price.

"Once you're on the promotion there is no step up," Samson says.

I think he is saying the promotion has wording, unlike most, that precludes a price increase. I could be wrong.

They are drawing an explicit comparison with the one-year plan so that would seem to suggest it will likely last a couple of years at least for them to maintain any credibility.

I do not like the absence of HD video though. I wonder if you could still download HD videos off YouTube etc. I always download them anyway.

agree.
they even went on to hint that even after the "merger" the current intention is that the price will stay the same

what i dislike is the no hot spot option

That would not affect me because I use PDANet Android Tether rather than the built-in hotspot anyway.

You do not have to wait for the letter.

Most likely you just answered a question "wrong" in their computer's quiz based on public databases about who you are.

Call their Credit Dept directly at 800-639-6116 and ask a supervisor to override and give you a different set of questions.

Worth a try anyway.

So I see that bit at the bottom about calling to get set up on t-mobile prepaid if that's the info, just didn't see anyone verifying you could use the same phone and even sprint Sim when you come right back after porting.

Same phone, same sim.

1. Get tmobile digital sim number from ebay. paid $3
2. Get sprint account and pin
3. Get phone imei
4. https://prepaid.t-mobile.com/prep...own-device
5. Port using your information
6. Remember pin and print out the order confirmation page that includes your account #
7. Check your eligibility on the Sprint promo page using your original sim and imei number
8. Call Sprint to port once the page indicate you are elligible
