Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

What do you need a Twigby SIM for?

So what's the cheapest compatible phone right now? Can I just go into Walmart and pick one up? Can I just sign up for the deal, order the Sim card, and purchase the phone later? I have an old HTC Arrive, would that work for now?

If it worked, you would put Sprint stores out of business.

Steps:
-Search amazon/bestbuy for unlocked moto e4, moto g5. These are crappy overpriced phones but it will work on Sprint.
-When you get the phone, Go to Sprint store or Sprint website, buy the SIM card for the phone.
-Call the number 866-782-8777 to sign up.

A Sprint version HTC Arrive has some potential. Try its MEID on the checker.
However
(1) If it was ever on a mvno it will probably be rejected initially due to MVNO flag.
(2) If it is a Sprint prepaid model it will be rejected
(3) The checker is rejecting most very old phones like that and most reps are too so you have to be persistent.

You have to have an eligible phone.

Read back on this thread on Boost Moto G6 Play - $80 at Walmart. Theoretically Boost phones are not eligible but most people are getting them on via trying several times etc. Read the Wiki for other ideas.

I was in the exact same situation a month ago.

When I first called, they told me I needed to go in-store and show 2 types of ID, and also that they wanted to do a hard-pull (which would have been the 2nd one). That didn't sound right to me, so I kept trying different numbers. I believe they thought I wanted generic service.

My problem was solved when I called the PROMOTIONS department and very clearly told them I was signing-up for the free 1 year service promo for bringing your own device, told them I didn't have an account yet. You may have already tried this as it is what's listed in the Wiki, but even so I missed it myself the first few times - I think it is the 866-782-8777 number.

Whoever you get a hold of, make sure the first thing you tell them is that you want to sign-up for the free 1 year of service promo, and that you don't have an account yet. Once I did that, they didn't bother asking me to go in-store to show ID or anything like that. Can't recall if they ended up asking for the additional hard-pull though...

Hope that helps - good luck!
THANK YOU & repped! This got it working.

They asked to run my credit again & I said "You already ran it". I guess she either took that as a yes & re-ran it or she found the previous check. I went back to Experian and it still says 1 inquiry, hopefully it's not a delayed thing. I wonder if their system is so dummy proof it makes them go through all the normal credit questions & prompts, however when they click run it goes to a previously checked database or something

Update, 2nd hard inquiry on my account. Going to dispute. When I bombed the customer survey they called me like "oh how can we help" listened, then the generic "oh well we will work with our CSRs to make things better".... no you wont, typical generic response

When I got this deal I used a free and clear Sprint LG G5($80 on Ebay) and a Freedompop LTE account.

I did it by phone as recommended, the call took about 20 minutes on a weekday morning. The credit check was asking me questions about addresses and things of that nature associated with my credit history..The port-in took a couple of hours.

No problems, Since then I waited 50 days and got the LG G5 unlocked. Then swapped in a Sprint LG V20, waited another 50 days and got it unlocked. Now I swapped in a Sprint LG G4 and I'm waiting 50 days to get it unlocked.
I'm trying to get my Sprint LG G5 on there right now. I was previously on Tello, but I swapped it out of Tello.
Problem is that the phone Service state says 'In service' and I think that might be causing problems. When I use the Sprint online BYOD check, it says
"We can't activate this phone online.
Sorry, please bring your phone to a Sprint Store so we can help." on the BYOD checker
and "Ineligible, this phone does not qualify for this offer" on the 1year BYOD checker
Was your phone able to pass the Sprint online BYOD?

My sim card will arrive Mon so I ask in Chat if it's still OK to activate the sim with promotion that will end tomorrow, here's the answer:

Ronny Anderson: With the current information that we have available about the promotion it is not showing if the promotion will still be applied if the SIM card will be activated before the time frame, please get in touch with my colleagues at 866-782-8777. they will have all the details about the promotion and further assist with the information.
why not just go to a sprint store and buy the BOYD kit for $3 and activate it today? why risk it?

Ask Tello to check and release it if need be.

Even then it will fail until you get the mvno flag set to SPCS (search LiterallyUnlimited in this thread).

The Sprint LgG5 will be rejected by the sprint website IMEI check, but will work as a 2nd device. Sprint Lg V20 will work as a first device. Somebody edit/add the wiki!... oh wait, i 'll do that Done, added to Wiki
/EndThought
What do you mean Sprint LgG5 will be rejected by the sprint website IMEI check, but will work as a 2nd device?
Mine is getting rejected, but I also called and it still didn't work. The lady on the line said it was ineligible and that she tried putting in a ticket to fix it, but the ticket wouldn't work either because something with the phone.

Maybe this is because I was on Tello (Sprint MVNO)? But I thought I would get the "you owe $" message, and I never got that.

Usually yes it is the "you owe" message but it can be a different one too I think.

I would ask LiterallyUnlimited to take a look at it. For sure you can not activate it while the mvno flag reflects PLBL so that has to be fixed first regardless.

Getting reps to activate a phone is easier for 2nd device than for first, but just because of sales guidelines, not technical reasons.
