Yes and that is what you should do. Ting relabels them in its catalog but underneath they are Sprint sims that are fine for Sprint or any Sprint mvno and can be reused.

However if a phone was on Ting it will not work on Sprint until you get Ting to release it for use specifically on Sprint Postpaid (reference the ownership flag, PLBL, SPCS, LiterallyUnlimited).

Yes.

You can certainly try the IMEI in the Sprint checker right away in case Ting has already done what is needed but if it gives an error "money is owed to Sprint" then a further step needs to be done as I described.

oh yeah, I should of mentioned that I did go through IMEI check and it did say its available to bring on sprint. Just got confused on if I still needed ting to release it, but they won't have anything to do with this. So thanks again.

Sometimes Ting does it proactively and sometimes they don't. In those cases where they don't, you have to go back to them even though you might have thought they would not have anything further to do with it.

If going from Virgin Mobile to T-Mobile to Sprint; do I have to use someone else's SSN?

Waiting for Virgin Mobile to unlock my iPhone SE. Hope to complete the swap tomorrow.
No you don't. Virgin is prepaid and you don't need a SSN. Since you have never been with mothership Sprint you never had a Sprint postpaid before. Only postpaid requires SSN which this BYOD promo is a post-paid plan

I know someone who bought phone on sprint on a plan and after paying it off, she wanted to get her phone unlocked but sprint can't do it and told her that phone is too old to be unlocked.?!!! Wuhttt?!!!
I'm assuming she doesn't have an iPhone 6 or newer to begin with. If her phone is a 3+ year CDMA only phone, there is no point of an unlock as it won't work on any other carrier to begin with. Only phones that have both GSM/ CDMA bands require unlock to work on other carriers. iPhone 6 was the first iPhone that has dual GSM/ CDMA Qualcomm chips.

Im having a little issue. I brought a note 8 sprint from ebay. The imei # is clear on ting byod checker and Sprint says this device is activated on another Sprint account. But I was able to test it by activating it on Tello and making calls. How was I able to activate it on Tello which is sprint mvno if Sprint told me it is already activated by another Sprint account holder. Anyone can chime in and help?
Tello is a Sprint MVNO. If your phone is active on a Sprint MVNO, you cannot use it on Sprint/ another Sprint MVNO. If you want to take advantage of this Sprint BYOD 1 year free postpaid plan, you need to first port from Tello to Tmobile $3.25 digital ebay SIM. Once port is completed in 10 minutes into Tmobile, your Note 8 ESN will be released automatically. At that point port from Tmobile to this Sprint 1 year free plan- https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=117049859&postcount=18122

Sometimes this isn't needed but you are correct- in 50% of cases you need a call to Ting CSR
+18558464389 to change the ownership flag from PLBL to SPCS. As long as you don't say that you are not a Ting customer, Ting CSR normally will help you to change the ownership flag

I did all that and yet sprint still says the device is on another sprint account. That is why I'm so confused. I activated then de-activated from Tello and have the mvno flag back to spcs.
