I followed the instruction and ported my Sprint # to T-Mobile using the digital SIM card. Does anyone know how long I can stay w/ T-Mobile this way without activation? TIA!
most of us ported to digital sim and port back within a day or two. You want to wait a week? a month? I dont think you gain anything by delaying it.

My phone is not in US currently. Don't Sprint require activation (running a series of steps) immediately?

Thanks for reply. The T-mobile CSR said that the port-in is in progress. I'll get a confirmation text message once it completes. Since i used an EBay sim # only deal, how do I know when the process is complete? Per wiki, I've checked Sprint OM Dashboard (Orders & Transfers). Does it show info on number porting out of Sprint or only to Sprint? Any other ways to verify like if the line is ported out to T-mobile, would it stop showing up on my Sprint Dashboard?
check your phone's imei vs the 1 year free plan eligibility checker. it is faster that way vs your dashboard. if web page says it is eligible, then it is ported out of sprint and you can use it to port back in. or you can use your phone with the sprint sim in it to make a call and see if it is still working and still on sprint.

Just found out Sprint is offering the iPhone 8 for $8/month for 18 months or a total of $192 if you purchase the phone. Is there anyway I can get this deal included in the BYOD for the second year? When I port to T-Mobile and back again to Sprint would I be adding lines? Could I buy this phone before I port to T-Mobile? Trying to get my wife a new phone on the cheap. Thank you.

"So instead of costing $699, an iPhone 8 would only run you $192 total if you opted for Sprint's lease-to-own option. As a reminder, Sprint Flex is an 18-month program that lets you upgrade or return your phone after 12 payments. You would pay the $8 per month for additional 6 months to own the device."

Purchased my T-Mobile Digital Sim earlier today. Just waited on hold for 45 minutes with T-Mobile. Had my phone number, account number, PIN and Sim Card ready to go. Ported both numbers out in less than 10 minutes. She verified that it went through but here is were I got confused. The T-Mobile representative said that I would be on Sprint and T-Mobile at the same time for the next 24 hours. Also, that I would get a text message from T-Mobile once the process is complete. Seeing as I don't actually have the physical SIM card that is not going to happen. My phone still shows Sprint and 3 bars of service. The Sprint Eligibility checker says my phone number is not eligible. Hopefully this doesn't take to long. Want to be able to call Sprint and get back sooner than later.

They shut down a lot of the port support at night in both carriers. It is much better to port during the day time.

But full support (such as it is) will resume in the morning.

I think you saw that quote showing the total as $192 on another website like I did (BGR?). I chatted with a sales rep and, as I suspected, it is too good to be true. You pay $8 for 18 months with monthly bill credits (net $144). Then you either trade in / upgrade / buy it out. The buy-out option is an additional $175. Add tax to it and the total cost to buy the iPhone 8 to own it is $319 + tax. For the iPhone 8+ it is $419 + tax.

That works out to be ~50% off for the iPhone 8 though if you are going to stick with Sprint for 18 months anyway.

Does Sprint then unlock its phone to use on TMobile?

Got charged $13 for protection even I did remove it in my account and confirmed with a chat agent. I did one more time chat and they said they will credit back to my visa next billing cycle that happens to be in 3 days. I'll update later, wish me luck!

Sprint phones are generally made for the Sprint network only. We have an Sprint iPhone 5c that only works on Sprint, but our Verizon iPhone 5c works on Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint.

That is no longer true for current iPhone models.
In fact for most recent iPhone models, the Sprint and Verizon iPhones are the same Apple model numbers.
https://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/

In most recent years, Apple used the Intel chip for GSM-only models and the Qualcomm chip in universal models including Sprint and Verizon.

There were some intermediate years where Sprint had the only universal Qualcomm model needed to support TD-LTE.

edog11 may be able to set this out better.

However Sprint will not unlock a phone while it is under one of these payment deals.

Gotcha. But Verizon iPhones are still completely unlocked out of the box, right?
