I agree with what you're saying and hopefully she extends your date. But as far as what the reps are saying, I doubt much will change. You should take comintels advice

Just ported 3 numbers to T-mobile via ebay and back to Sprint under a new SSN. Only hiccup was we couldn't make voice calls and got "account not validated" message. Obviously the old sprint account was causing problems somewhere.

Solution on Moto was goto cellular networks --> carrier settings --> update device config.

I was on the phone with sprint while doing this and they were doing things on their end but maybe this might work for someone without spending an hour on the phone with support.

Correct and we have told people to do just that sequence (which may be called "reset cellular data" on other phones) repeatedly so I am glad you are reinforcing that.

The phone still has the old Sprint account data stored and sees it is still connected to Sprint, so the phone thinks it can keep using it, which fails. So the carrier account data in the phone needs to be reset.

Sprint tries to do the past it can to help but this is a handset issue that arises largely out of porting out of Sprint and then back into Sprint without the phone getting enough indications that it is on a different account.

Just wanted to update that the Boost Moto G6 Play still activates just fine on Sprint. Just finished activating one by calling the customer service number, only took a few minutes.
Lucky you.
I got shot down twice, couldn't get the Boost Moto G6 Play activated.
CSRs kept asking me what phone, from what carrier it was.
Called Boost to get the RMA and almost shipped back the phone.

One last try, I opened a chat session to swap the phone on another active line with Nexus 6. CSR asked what phone, I said a Moto G6. Then IMEI, took a minute or so, wasn't asked anything, then ICCID. After another minute, it passed! Activated!

Now I need to put back the Nexus 6 on a new line. This should be easy.

Very helpful to know this is not always easy! Thanks!
Swapping on is always the last line of defense (but is not 100% either).

To help understand what happens when they balk, did they ask if it was a "prepaid phone"? Did they ask if it was a "Boost phone"? Why did they say why they were declining?

(Of course we know the real reason, but it is helpful to know exactly what they are thinking and looking for specifically. - we can see already that one thing they ask is where it was bought).

Also one more question, what time of day were you calling when they turned you down? I have a suspicion that the reps will be more likely to let anything on late at night when there are no U.S. supervisors monitoring.

Let's hope they have not recently sent out internal memos to crack down on these phones.

I hope the person gets some compensation and refund.

However, I think it is quite unlikely they would extend the plan much beyond the published end date and that was stated right on the peron's dashboard. They cannot allow sales reps to vary their standard policies - otherwise everyone would take advantage of casual statements by sales reps.

The most they will likely do is refund some new charges where the person was not yet aware that the free plan had expired.

This does not mean that the sales reps should be excused for their behavior. And Sprint bears supervisory responsibility.

But even if we look out to what would happen in a court case, courts would not order "specific performance" of a contract. Even if Sprint breached their agreement, you would not be able to force them to go through with it. The most you would get is damages, and you are required to mitigate those.

If the poster is trying to keep the free plan going for an extended period beyond what we all know is the intended expiry date, just based on a mistake by a sales rep, I do not think that is realistic or will work. Marci is not going to do that. And it would not work in court either. Sprint could not afford to give in on such cases because it would set an unsustainable precedent.

If I add a line to my account, do I have to port in a number to get the 1 year free, or can I get a new number?

if you get a T-Mobile digital sim ($3.25 on eBay) they can assign you a number. Then, just port that number to Sprint with your Sprint compatible device. I did that when I added a fifth line to my 1 year free account.

Did you reset carrier settings? ##CLEAR# or ##72786# (for android) for iPhone I think it is ##25327# , but not 100% sure. The problem is my phone needed to re-provision after coming from T-Mobile which for some reason blocked short codes
