Quote from comintel :
I hope the person gets some compensation and refund.

However, I think it is quite unlikely they would extend the plan much beyond the published end date and that was stated right on the peron's dashboard. They cannot allow sales reps to vary their standard policies - otherwise everyone would take advantage of casual statements by sales reps.

The most they will likely do is refund some new charges where the person was not yet aware that the free plan had expired.

This does not mean that the sales reps should be excused for their behavior. And Sprint bears supervisory responsibility.

But even if we look out to what would happen in a court case, courts would not order "specific performance" of a contract. Even if Sprint breached their agreement, you would not be able to force them to go through with it. The most you would get is damages, and you are required to mitigate those.

If the poster is trying to keep the free plan going for an extended period beyond what we all know is the intended expiry date, just based on a mistake by a sales rep, I do not think that is realistic or will work. Marci is not going to do that. And it would not work in court either. Sprint could not afford to give in on such cases because it would set an unsustainable precedent.
Haha how would courts view the outsourcing of customer service to the Phillipines at cost savings for the CEO and American jobs lost at a time when they're trying to merge with Tmobile and Trump is president lol.

I finally got into this deal. But when I check my first bill, it shows that the plan is "Unlimited Basic", and is charging me $60 for that. (It says "$64.82 will be charged to your card on Aug 23")
Quote from comintel :
That is not the free plan.

Read back through all your emails from Sprint and see if there is anything that indicates what plan you ordered.

It's quite easy for things to go wrong because the TeleSales number handles orders for many different plans.

I suspect they would view it as an entitled person unable to understand 1 year free.

Very helpful to know this is not always easy! Thanks!
Swapping on is always the last line of defense (but is not 100% either).

To help understand what happens when they balk, did they ask if it was a "prepaid phone"? Did they ask if it was a "Boost phone"? Why did they say why they were declining?

(Of course we know the real reason, but it is helpful to know exactly what they are thinking and looking for specifically. - we can see already that one thing they ask is where it was bought).

Also one more question, what time of day were you calling when they turned you down? I have a suspicion that the reps will be more likely to let anything on late at night when there are no U.S. supervisors monitoring.

Let's hope they have not recently sent out internal memos to crack down on these phones.
I called the telesales for BYOD activation around noon EDT both times,
and chatted just before midnight.

They asked me what phone it is, where I got it from or if it was active previously, and I tried my best not to say Boost/prepaid. They said the IMEI (I tried both DEC and HEX) was not on their database, couldn't activate it, etc.

Very helpful.

See I guessed right on the time of day - I think they may be more conservative during the daytime because U.S. managers monitor them. This can work for you or against you.

I wonder if they always have to add them to the DMD database or whether some are already there and some not.

wow, this was extended again? I canceled my account in late June so I guess I can jump back in around mid August (45 days). We are currently on my wife's account that she opened in March. Hate to overlap this much though...

Here;s what my older plan says on my Dashboard:

Unlimited - Bring Your Phone
Unlimited Talk, Text and Data.
$5/line/mo up to 5 lines. ($60/line value free with AutoPay until 04/30/19)
10GB Mobile Hotspot.<
International Text from US.
Requires> $5 per line/per month AutoPay discount.
Savings until 04/30/19 ; then $60/mo. for line 1, $40/mo. for line 2 and $30/mo./line for lines 3-5 with AutoPay.

Yours would be only slightly different.

I think what I would do is call Account Services at 1-888-211-4727 and select "Cancel Service" and speak to Cancellations/ Retentions so that the cancellation of the Paid plan is properly recorded under the 14-say satisfaction guarantee and a refund made. That way they can't argue about it since it is your right and it does not depend on waiting for an investigation etc.. Don't deal with another department that does not have the authority to cancel the paid plan.
Did you activate before they removed The 10GB mobile hotspot?

Correct. You can see that by subtracting a year from the last savings date shown.

I got a Tmobile sim card from Apple store. It doesn't say it is a Pay As You Go sim card, and looks like a regular sim card. Will it work for temporarily porting out the number? Thanks.

OK, good morning . Ran into a problem, the CS was activating the device and upon verifying the SIM card she informed me that the SIM was not compatible. I tried another SIM, and no good. She asked me to pick up another one and call in to verify. Any advice?
Yes, they are SPRINT SIM cards....

That is exactly why I did this promotion entirely online and ordered the expensive rip off sim card online as well since Sprint links the sim they're sending you to the free year promotion. When you get the sim in the mail you just go to the activation page and give them the sim's number and your phone IMEI and you're all set.

GO to the boost mobile IMEI checker and run your phone through the system, it will tell you what SIM number you specifically need.

Thanks for the info! Can I use this sim card as pay as you go when porting to T-Mobile (I assume pay as you go is the only way for this purpose)?
