Are we sure that the tmobile and at&t Galaxy s8 versions work with this deal? From my research they aren't even compatible with Sprint.

I think if you do a thread search for 's8', you will find your answer. It's been answered many times.

Yeah that's the message when it has been on a Sprint mvno at any time. You will have to get the mvno flag reset to SPCS. Which Sprint mvno was it on if it was?

Search LiterallyUnlimited in this thread for more info on the mvno flag and how to get it reset.
Thank you for your help. That's weird! I used on Total Wireless (verizon), Cricket (at&t), Ting (GSM T-Mobile) and Freedom POP (GSM)!

Can Sprint "lock" the IMEI you give them to your service? I input my Note 8 unlocked, but just to get through the process. Will the SIM be tied to this phone?

nope. it only locked your imei on cdma side if you have active service with sprint. once you cancelled service. imei will be free again.

Regarding the merger, I really hope it doesn't happen.
Less competition. Higher prices. No more MVNO's. Less jobs.
No more phone deals.
After all they are both foreign owned.
5G is over hyped
I agree with all of this.

The MVNO thing is so true and many point that it keeps everything honest (or less dishonest?) They are directly tied to the number of real networks and if you remove 1, that's huge. They can't shop against each network for the best rates to resell at.

We've already seen deals for switching or phones or both become less. Clearly with the looming merger they see no reason to compete already.

The foreign owned is huge I agree and others dismiss it too easily. It makes me uneasy Sprint was sold to a foreigner, Tmobile has been owned already by one. Critical infrastructure being owned and run by other counties is reason for concern. It's not like a jeans pants company, the spectrum and networks are hyper critical to our economy.

5G is over hyped and Sprint alone owns so much spectrum the 'have to merge' is again BS. Tmobile has purchased a lot of spectrum and should be fine too if they continue to deploy smartly and quickly as they have. The 5G hype is weird to me - LTE routinely bests or beats wired internet (not that it shouldn't always be faster and better). LTE is fast enough for anything you'd do on a phone - 4k streaming, uploading, downloading huge work files - whatever. 1 gig internet is needed, but it's more useful to those who have multiple connections. A home could have a couple tablets, a TV, and the computer gaming all at once and you need the throughput up and down. A phone, sure you can tether, but honestly that's rare and usually done to connect 1 device anyway which LTE is again way fast enough for. And with all the speed and latency decreases, you see diminishing returns. The jump from 200ms latency to 20ms was huge and you can easily tell the difference. If 5G gets our latency to 10ms from 20ms, that's a big % bump, but as a user you will hardly notice in most normal use cases.

There is a hyperlink to a good article in the wiki explaining how sprint sims are different than the other carriers. Check it out.

Yes they work. Samsung added brand switching to S8. Insert a Sprint sim and it morphs into the Sprint software with 100% Sprint personality, all Sprint bands etc..

All branded U.S. models use the same underlying hardware so this was possible and Samsung did it..

Sprint activation has nothing to do with sims (except for LTE and certain features).
You activate an IMEI, not an ICCID alone.
You can use your Note 8 elsewhere on another carrier by swapping sims back and forth if you want.
If you want to activate by ICCID alone and move your sim around to different devices without notifying Sprint, no you cannot do that.
But you can just swap IMEI (or ICCID) on the DashBoard (first time requires manual assistance via chat) to switch to a different device.

Anyone else get this error after trying to port from tmobile prepaid? It seems like it doesn't like the fact that the account number is actually just the phone number.
