I don't have time to read through this whole thread. Can someone just tell me the easiest way to buy SIM card and obtain a phone number so that I can make this Sprint deal work?

45 days of hassle and no coverage?! Thanks for the hint but how about No. I have a much better solution that worked for me, in real life. Just dump Sprint and join T-Mobil. You can't be happier, as I am...
Sprint doesn't understand the value of loyal customers so deserves NONE.
Quote from comintel :
You can also do it with no delay at all by having a spouse or relative open the account for you to share under their SSN. Sprint is perfectly ok with this.

No carrier will give new customer offers to existing customers except one of these ways.

Sprint would never allow it on without bands 25, 26, and voice band BC10.

You would not even be able to make calls.

Some Huawei phones may be ok (Sprint/Boost have sold some) but not that one.

That's a bummer. But thanks for your response. looks like i have to get a cheaper phone to use the service. Do i have to call sprint every time i change i plan on changing the phone?
Say, i activate the service using phone a, and after a few days switch to phone b

You can do it online with a combination of DashBoard plus Chat. It only takes a minute.

Look at some Boost Moto phones. They are actually better than unbranded models because they support Sprint wifi calling etc. Officially they cannot go on this plan but read the wiki and thread about how to get them on.

And some others too.

I was going to sign up to just have a free year of service then quit but it's not even worth the trouble. I'm currently with T-Mobile and have no intention of ever switching (T-Mobile is going to own Sprint anyways).

A few months ago I tried to get on the Kickstart for $15/mo and I couldn't even pass credit check (I have 850+ score by the way). Went through the trouble of signing up online multiple times without luck so I went to the store, waited an hour, spending a long time for rep to call their credit department and confirming I'm whom I am. They said because I was a past customer they didn't trust me to be the same person so I had to go through all these checks. What the hell why didn't they completely remove my account when I left 4 years ago. Anyways I couldn't even sign up for Kickstart at the store so they gave me a temporary account and told me to go home create an online account with the new account number, which I did. Try to add Kickstart and nope wouldn't let me, saying my account is not approved to add. Needless to say I gave up and I got dinged with a hard pull on my credit. Probably the worst carrier all around from top to bottom

We probably could have helped you avoid going to the store.

As to KickStart, that was a flash offer only open for a week. You could not add lines after that.

KickStart 2 is open now by the way at $25 a month and you can do it at stores this time. So they are learning but the price has gone up to allow store support. Personally I would prefer to do without it.

I have a unlocked phone with Republic Wireless and was thinking of doing this, but seeing the long list of Notes above has me second guessing and assuming it would be a hassle and another thing to worry about thus not worth the trouble. I may be in the minority.

Your Republic Wireless account is far more limited in comparison.

Most of the negative posts are just long standing grudge and vengeance attempts and have nothing to do with the offer or the current state of Sprint really.

But for those who want some hand-holding, they can go to a store and sign up for KickStart 2 for $25 a month plus $5 or so taxes.
