why are u complicating things?

the wiki lists exactly how u can get another free year.

its a tried and true method

follow it..u will be glad u did....do it quick....all indications are that this deal is on its last legs....
Thanks for the head's up. However...

How do you use someone else's SS# to sign up for a Sprint Plan and account? It's assumed they'll use that to do a credit check, correct? Does the owner of the SS# need to be directly involved in the sign-up process with Sprint?

Doesn't one's name have to match the SS#, especially if a credit check is performed? Wouldn't it potentially get red flagged as an identity theft issue?

That message means the phone was on an mvno at some earlier time and needs to be pushed back to Sprint postpaid before it can be activated. Search literallyunlimited in this thread, also PLBL and SPCS. A few mvnos will do it on request, namely Ting or Google. Otherwise literallyunlimited on reddit.

Note ignore the literal wording of the message which is wrong.
Thanks for the response. I contacted TING customer service and they fixed it.
Activated to sprint again. ApplauseApplause

so this confusion has come up before
perhaps is not as intuitive as it needs to be in the wiki

folks , this deal is for new customers only.
so to get a 2nd year, u need to be a new customer.
since u had 1 year already , u r not a new customer.
so
options are:

1.
wait 45 days and be considered a new customer again
(some have done it sooner but not guaranteed)
now u can sign up again with your own name ,ss# info etc

2.
signup another person that does not have Sprint service in last 45 days
(like spouse, a 18+ year child, a relative, a life partner, etc)
that person will be the account holder.
so that persons ss#, name ,address etc will be used.
wit their consent.

u r not stealing anyone's identity
do not commit fraud

again, i assumes this to be intuitive, but i guess it isnt

The person whose SS number it is should be the one opening the new account as the account will be in their name and they will be ultimately responsible for it.

Not in Boost stores because stores require activation on Boost for all purchases.

Maybe in non-Boost stores if any have it in stock and maybe on a price match there.

Although there is an Upper limit: 480p on YouTube quality setting, I could chose 1080p to play. Have not yet noticed any difference on my tiny screen, would it result any additional charge or what?
No extra charge but I have found it would stop and start in that case. If you can actually play at 1080p using true 1080p videos, without stop and start, then the throttle is not actually being applied. Some of their equipment may not be capable of enforcing it in some areas. (Sprint uses different equipment in different areas). But I sure saw the effect when I tested.

u have provided very little details.

based on what u have provided, i suggest u look at the conditions of your lease...carefully

typically if u leased..u are in "contract " of lease terms.

so for example.
a lease on iphone 8 :
currently full price is 700
divide 700 by 24 u get 29.16
currently a discount every month is 21.16
so u pay 8 every month
this assumes u stay with S on the current plan for 12 months.

on a lease u are responsible for minimum 12 months
so 12 x 29.16 = 350
then u have options

now if after making 1 payment u decide u want to end lease.
then u have to pay: 350-29.16=321

if after making 2 payment u decide u want to end lease.
then u have to pay:350-29.16 (x2)=292

etc

incidentally...for most/many/almost all sprint phones..the way u calculate the monthly payment schedule is take full price and divide by 24

Yes. I've read the wiki. Here's my dilemma. I had the 1 year free for a year. Near the end I got a $15 Kickstart with another phone number. They put both numbers in the same my Sprint account. I ported out of 1 year free about 2 weeks prior to the end. Still had Kickstart. Sat out 45 days plus and now can't get I year free 2nd year because telesales says the kickstart acct preludes it. I don't want to give up $15 Kickstart as it's a hell of a deal. Tried going straight thru the website with a different email and buying a sim. All was well until the credit check. Message came thru that this plan was for new customers only. Not rejected for bad credit; just that offer was for new customers bringing their own phone only. Same social for everything.

Any thoughts or opinions?

Just that offer was for new customers.

Give up $15 plan and wait 45 days( promotion may be gone at that time) or find someone
who can open a new sprint account............

$15 plan is not guaranteed to be continued forever? No contract for sprint.

No. It is essentially a Sprint phone and you can use the included sim card. Just do not mention anything about it being a Boost or prepaid phone when talking to Sprint.

Thank you for the reply. I am in contract and 9 months are done with contract. I want to know if I buy the cell which is in contract and then can I opt for this 1 year free plan or I will have to port to at&t or T-Mobile and then back to sprint ?
