Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Because that's what the mvno flag means - allow activation only on an mvno.
Probably you just need that flipped as we already said.
I appreciate your help but have no idea what 'get it flipped' means.

Do you mean in order to use on Sprint network, I need to take to a Sprint store and they will 'flip' for me? After that I can use for this free year deal?

Thanks and repped.

ETA: Nevermind, it seems too much trouble and not even sure how good Sprint is in the area. I'll stick with Total Wireless for now.

Thank you. Can you explain what that means. Why would I only be able to use a unlocked phone on mvnos and not Sprint itself?

What caused that on the unlocked phone?

Thanks.
Because Sprint maintains a distinction between phones running on its mvno and phones running on postpaid. The mvno flag has to be ON to run on mvnos and OFF to run on postpaid. It is a (minor) obstacle to switching back and forth between them. The mvno's are happy to set it on but often skimp on turning it off when they should.

There could also be money owed to Sprint but the mvno flag is the most obvious ting to try first. Why not just call Sprint TeleSales to start and say it is an older phone that was on an mvno earlier ? Otherwise you can check with LiterallyUnlimited.

My daughters phone was with Ting and I wanted to take advantage of this deal for her. I ported out to T-Mobile using the $5 ebay digital sim. Then signed her back up using my wifes name since I already have an account with Sprint under their advantage club plan. This was honestly a huge pain in the ass and wasted my entire sunday evening, but I would say definitly worth it since we get decent sprint coverage around here. They pushed the protection plan I just let them sign me up, I chatted with someone after and had them remove it.

Voice and data working great. No issues

For A) existing customers whose 1 year BYOD plan is expiring and want to renew another year of free BYOD OR B) customers on Sprint MVNO's i.e. Tello/Ting/Virgin/Boost, the fastest easiest is to port out to T-mobile using $5 digital T-Mobile SIM card from eBay and port back in to Sprint for another year of free 1YR BYOD.

If you are existing Sprint postpaid customer in the last 45 days, you will need a new SSN (friend/ family). If you are porting from a Sprint MVNO you don't need a new SSN as long as you weren't a Sprint postpaid customer in the last 45 days.

1) First, have your Sprint/ Sprint MVNO account number and PIN ready. Ensure that you have a Sprint eligible phone and compatible Sprint SIM card (Sprint SIM can be reused)

2) Order the $5 digital T-Mobile SIM Card from eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/232903327738. You will purchase 1 unique digital T-mobile SIM for each line you want to port as each digital SIM can be used only/ consumed only once.

3) You don't have to topup/ reload the Tmobile digital SIM. Once receive the digital SIM card number, call Tmobile customer care 1-877-778-2107 to port your sprint number to Tmobile. Just give them your Sprint/ Sprint MVNO acct number, PIN , phone number and T mobile SIM card number. If rep asks for an activation code tell them it is not necessary- only the SIM card number is needed.

4) Your number will be ported to T mobile in less than 5 minutes. Your Tmobile Account number will be your phone number prefixed by 1 Ex: 1 214-xxx-xxxx and the pin number will be the one that you setup initially during the porting or activation process. Note that for each line in Tmobile prepaid, it will be a separate account number i.e. the phone number of each line prefixed by 1 for that line. Again PIN number would be what you have set during number porting/activation for each line.

5) Wait for ~ 20 minutes to verify the completion of the T-mobile port and the cancellation of your Sprint account. Port is complete when your existing Sprint/ Sprint MVNO phone stops working (no calls/ no text/ no internet)

6) Now call back sprint telesales number 1866-782-8777 to sign up for the 1 year BYOD free plan and port back your number from Tmobile with a new SSN if you were an existing Sprint postpaid customer in the last 45 days.

7) After about 45 mins on the phone call, you are good to go for another one year. Verbally confirm that the representative waives the $30 activation fee per line as part of the promotion. In addition, ensure the rep DOES NOT add insurance on your phones to the billing- Sprint reps have been known to be unscrupulous and add insurance without your knowledge. Ask the rep to notate your account that you signed up for the BYOD 1 year $0 promotion for both lines in case the rep misapplied the promotion. In addition, ask the rep for your new Sprint account number and notate this down for future reference.

Great info-- Just a question when you port out from sprint & signup again to sprint with different SS number do i need to have new simcards or previous simcard before port out will work?

Anyone have activation issues? I've spent a few hours on the phone with Sprint (do NOT call the sales number... the people in the Philippines call center try to sell you the Sprint Complete package), but after a few tries of each (reboot, reset network settings, resetting subscriber settings) nothing seems to allow my iphone 8 to connect with Sprint towers. I bought the sim card because I had none that were compatible with iphone 8. The phone worked beautifully with rsim12 on T-mobile.... it is a Sprint-locked phone.

They're sending me a new sim card, but anyone experience similar issues?
Have you tried to use the rsim to change it back to the stock settings? how did you do it, the ICCID input? try rsim to input the actual iccid of the sim you want to use.

I was successful using the rsim iccid, but I never was with the rsim imsi method. But if that is what you used, try setting it back to sprint's imsi.

These are suggestions, I am curious to whether you can get this back to the stock configuration. I might be in the same boat, but I don't intend to ever go back to my phone's original provider. I think there is some potentially useful discussion in the iphone walmart thread where this Nick guy helped a bunch of people out, someone mentioned this issue as well there. Not sure if they ever resolved it.

It means turn off the MVNO flag.

Yes if you go to a Sprint Repair Department in a corporate owned store.

But remember the average customer receiving that error from their general purpose checker is a paying customer who is normally referred to the store for any issues anyway.

Stores may or may not be wild about helping non-paying customers.

So either way is fine, go to a Sprint Repair Department in a corporate owned store or try the other routes we mentioned.

It may be something else too but this is worth a shot.

I have a old iphone 5 Ting says compatible but on Sprint it says you owe money to sprint or something. It was on freedompop before. How to get this working again?

As just discussed, see
https://www.reddit.com/r/Literall...ete_guide/

and get FP or Sprint or LiterallyUnlimited to push it back to Sprint postpaid status from mvno status.

First call the Credit Department directly at 800-639-6116 as that often gives a better answer. Even usually.
So when I call them, I tell them I was told to wait 60 days or write a letter answering why i want to switch, and tell them my reasons, and ask if I should write that in my letter?

I would just be vague and say they did not give you an exact reason (which is true).

They do not seem to care much about or pay attention to what was said before. They just decide over again.

They have different procedures than credit reps reached through Sales, strange as it may seem.

It is possible they might say the same thing but often they do not. The regular reps get the credit rules wrong all the time so just trying a different route seems to often give a better answer.

No guarantee but no downside either. They override the 60-day rule all the time.

really complex question that hopefully someone can answer:

Finished my 1 year BYOD Free plan and am on month to month. waited to signup for the XS on the Iphone Upgrade program.

1. Should I activate with Mint on my current iPhone before I get the XS Friday? Worried about having issue activating the XS not using a Sprint sim.

2. Wait to get the XS, activate on Sprint, then activate Mint?

Reason why I'm between the two is I want to make sure that in 45 days I can get back on the free plan. If the phone is activated on Sprint, will that not allow me to get it....therefore I should try doing my 1st choice?

Use the same sims and you will have to CALL IN only to be able to do so, as per the wiki.

I didn't think about resetting the ICCID... yes, I used to use the automatic function on rsim12, but since mine is slightly out of date, that method didn't work. I actually found and manually entered the ICCID.

I thought the way rsim worked was to "fool" the iPhone into thinking it is whatever sim card the rsim is masquerading as... but actually connecting to the towers the actual sim card behind the rsim (in my case it was Tmobile). But I'll give it a shot... I'll also take a look at the thread you mentioned.

Thanks!

***update***
I just gave up and reset my entire phone, wiped everything and started fresh. It worked! So the moral of the story is, that if you used rsim before on a Sprint iPhone that you want to bring back to Sprint, do a fresh install of iOS. Resetting network setting does NOT work.

Sharing my experience for getting second year free for two lines. For both, I started process on Sat. First one completed on Monday and second one I'm still working on.

I used t-mobile SIM from ebay and I was able to reuse it after gap of ~3 weeks for second line.

On Sat, I started the process for second SIM to transfer to T-Mobile. Nothing happened till Monday noon so I called back. They started the process again and it happened quickly. Now my Sprint service is stopped.

Problem is, my iPhone 8 is now showing - not eligible on Sprint. I used same phone for ~10 months on Sprint and now it is not working. Anyone having same issue?

It's been 2 hrs my Sprint service is stopped working so T-mobile transfer is successful. Do I need to wait more to get the phone back to eligible?

For first line, I tried it after ~6 hrs and it worked fine.

Ported from Fi to Google voice. Staff in Fi said they have removed the MVNO flag, yet it's still not eligible...Do I just need to wait a bit longer or do something else? Thanks.
