Sorry, there is only one sim involved. The one in the Moto. The Essential phone is brand new and doesn't have a sim. It will replace the Moto on Sprint.Ting shows that both the Essential and Moto G5sPlus use the same model sim on Sprint. I think you're saying I can just take the sim out of the Moto and put it in the Essential.
I realize it is the same sim. Both phones take 416Q so you can reuse the sim.

Yes you can do it but you can't do just the physical action. You have to do an IMEI swap on your dashboard and/or with tech support chat at the same time, as I described. I revised my post so it may be clearer now.

after you insert the sim into your essential phone, you need to call sprint or use their online chat to swap your new device. Inserting the sim is not enough. Sprint use cdma for vioce and LTE for data. Sim card only provides LTE data, you still need to swap the essential phone to enable the cdma voice.

You can use the same sim if it has been more than 45 days since the SSN was last in use anywhere on Sprint. If the break has been less than 45 days, you would need to use a family member's, or wait until it has been 45 days. I was not sure from your wording which was the case.
Is this still working???

Sure is! (by the way I meant same SSN, not same sim).

I think if you want iPhone X's it totally makes sense to go with sprint as it's hugely profitable.

Just wondering why one would do all of that rather than buy direct from Apple Store, unlocked.
I like the fact that I can upgrade my phone each year without the hassle of selling it.

Thanks for the deal. I have a sim incoming. Been with AT&T since 2005 but they seem to not care about loyal customers. They quoted me a +$5 bill change when changing to the new plans they're offering. In realty it was a +$20 increase. It's only a few dollars but they didn't want to honor it.

I moved from Sprint to US mobile (Verizon). Now I need to wait 45 days before moving back to Sprint for a second free year. Can anyone confirm this is accurate?

In addition to signing up for Sprint again in 45 days and requesting a new SIM will I also need a new eligible phone that has a new IMEI?

has anyone done this with a galaxy S5 phone recently? Had a FP issue with my phone not being inactive even though I got a message on my phone confirming that i discontinued service. Spent the $12 to get premium phone customer service and they cleared that up. When I asked them to unlock my phone, the reply was "We dont unlock phones, you will need to go to a store to do that." I got an email from customer service saying that they do unlock the phones once the phone is no longer in service... anyone previously using FP have experience in porting over to sprint?

trying to understand wifi calling, so if I have this feature turned on, and connected to wifi, I can call Hong Kong for free?

No, think of it as another way to connect using WiFi/Data vs using a Cell Tower connection.
So the classic example is you are in a building where you have zero bars but have access to the WiFi.
Bottom line: any "free" calls you would normally make are still free and any "toll" calls have the same cost as usual. US calls are pretty much free and international calls are not for most major carriers- obviously there are some plans where Canada, Mexico are included or an international plan Add-on are exceptions.

It means turn off the MVNO flag.

Yes if you go to a Sprint Repair Department in a corporate owned store.

But remember the average customer receiving that error from their general purpose checker is a paying customer who is normally referred to the store for any issues anyway.

Stores may or may not be wild about helping non-paying customers.

So either way is fine, go to a Sprint Repair Department in a corporate owned store or try the other routes we mentioned.

It may be something else too but this is worth a shot.

I did contact this guy mentioned. When I give him my IMEI and he does his flip, does that interfere with the phone currently being on Total Wireless? It's my sister's phone and the phone is at her house. I don't want to mess her service up. thanks.

Oh, then it is not what I want. I find that with wifi calling turned on, call quality actually drops, I got disconnected more easily
