I was told by a Sprint rep the domestic data roaming limit for this free BYOD plan is 300mb per month.

The FAQ just says: Off-network Roaming: Sprint reserves the right, without notice, to deny, terminate, modify, disconnect or suspend service if off-network usage in a month exceeds: (1) voice: 800 min. or a majority of minutes; or (2) data: 50, 100 or 300 megabytes or (based on plan terms) a majority of kilobytes.
Years ago I set the PRL on my phone to roam on Verizon 3G. Used about 1gb every month for 2 years. Nothing happened to me.

Ymmv, that was also a common method years ago during 2 year contracts to have your service cancelled intentionally to leave without ETF.

So, given that porting a number out from Sprint will kill the associated line, what happens if you do this more than a month before the end of the promotional period? Do you end up paying the ETF's for the remaining months ($5/month pre-promo?), or do you pay nothing?

1. Setup a 5th line on the unlimited free promo just to port in a number
2. immediately have that number ported out to GVoice
3. 5th line dies
Do you pay $60 or $0?

Does this plan includes free domestic data roaming? I saw some pages say there is a 100m roaming data limit, not sure if it's about this plan... Thanks.

I decided to chat with sprint.

So I guess these free lines don't count as any type of contract, so it's no problem to just end individual lines at any time:

Ramona S. : I have checked the details. And i can see that that line is not under any contract so there will no Early termination fee if you cancel the line or port out to any other network

LTE connection is becoming lousy day by day.
I find that staying on 3G gets a better overall connection, as in stays connected.

I noticed that the "1x" problem has been getting worse lately. This is where you have full bars of signal strength, but the data connection shows "1x". LTE or 3G doesn't matter. The only workaround I've found is to flip in and out of airplane mode. Not great, I fell out of a work videoconference this morning.

This is on a fully paid Sprint account from work (not this freebie plan), on an iPhone 8 I got from Sprint.

So I will probably switch away from Sprint at work when the FEC on the iPhone is done. (Or maybe the Sprint/TMO merger will switch it for me lol). But for $3.00 / month, I think it is still a good deal

i truly believe that u "travel all over" and u have great service with V and not S.
I think you're right, at least in the US.

For international travel, free international text and data makes Sprint kick Verizon's butt. I hear friends complaining about daily passes they have to buy when using Verizon abroad. And internationally, it's pretty much the same GSM towers both are roaming on, so the network should be the same. Just a matter of cost $$$

now, contracts are not as common as u think

most companies stopped the traditional "2 year contract " 12~18 months ago

No. If you search you will find that it is not compatible with Verizon or Sprint without flashing its ROM, and Sprint is not going to whitelist even if you did.

I was aware that's been the case, but I still wanted to be 100% certain before getting hit with ETFs and no recourse laugh out loud Maybe I was just bad at searching, but I wasn't able to find the T&C info for the account anywhere in my dashboard. Good to know I can just add and drop lines on this account as I please. This will make transferring from places like numberbarn to google voice nice and easy/free.
