Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

used to have an Essential too but now passed it on to the wifey. it works well with the sprint towers from where i live, Chicagoland area, Wisconsin, Indiana and the Michigan areas. am not too sure how is Sprint's coverage in your area but if i have trouble getting a signal i go to my settings and tap on
---mobile network---advanced---carrier settings---and update device config ( let it cycle after this until it says ok or successful)---then update prl. while you are doing update device config look at your bar reception on top part f your phone, it should disappear for a couple of seconds. if it did, that means your network has been reset. sometimes it does not let you update your device config. means there is some problem. you can restart your phone and do the same steps again. if still the same you can reset the network connection by doing this.

How To Reset The Network Connection (SCRTN)
What's an SCRTN?

An SCRTN (which stands for Special Code To Reset the Network) is a technical term used by the mobile industry. Basically, an SCRTN will reset your phone's connection to the carrier network, which is why an SCRTN is sometimes referred to as a "carrier wipe".

Does an SCRTN wipe all my information from the phone?
It does not. It only resets your connection to your mobile network. To completely wipe all the information from a phone, you would perform a factory data reset, which you can usually find in your phone's main Settings app under Backup & Reset > Factory Data Reset.

How do I do an SCRTN?
For most mobile devices, you enter a code on your built-in dialer (as opposed to your TextNow dialer) on the dialer numberpad. The phone will reboot a couple of times as it resets your network connection and information. These codes will be slightly different depending on your device:

Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Moto G5 dial #*#*72786#*#*
Moto G4, Google Pixel, Essential dial *#*#72786#*#*
All other Android models dial ##72786#

also download LTE discovery to see what network Band are you in. If you are on Band 41 you should get the highest speed, from 30 to 140 mbps is what I have seen so far. if you are on other bands you should still have doable 3 to 20 mbps speed as well.

i am mostly on wifi and i can survive with a slow 3 mbps when i am out and about. Sprint has been a blessing for me, have saved a lot of money thru this free byod program. you just have to learn how do play their system. Sprint sim cards are paired to your particular phone so they are not swappable to your other devices ( like T Mobile, Verizon or AT&T sims.) you have to chat or call Sprint if you want to swap devices.

let me know if i can be of further help, Enjoy your Essential....and cheers to Essential 2 hopefully coming in the near future!
Thank you. It is really rare to get clear concise information without the typical snark associated with boards. So I'll definitely run some tests, and report on my findings. Once again, I thank you!

I am current Sprint customer on postpaid plan. I am using IPhone 6 with sprint and my contract is over, so phone is supposed to be unlocked. In order to take advantage of 1 year free offer, I am considering moving my number first to t-mobile SIM (as described in the link below).

https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=117049859&postcount=18122

I realize that I have to use different SS # for this to work. But, My question is can I use same IPhone 6 I am using with Sprint currently?

Thanks in advance.

Although I know it's unlocked and out of contract, do I have to check something to make sure Sprint won't hold this phone somehow? If this has been done by others, I will just go ahead and do it. But, don't want to be in a situation where i don't have service after I transfer to t-mobile.

You could test it on TMO under another number while it is still on Sprint to verify that.
Then port your number out to a second different TMO account and bring phone and number back together again in the new Sprint plan.

In addition to ghengis' excellent post: Toggle options in "preferred network" settings". I don't have me essential phone anymore either so this is from memory.
Also do you have latest updates? (Probably a stupid question but Essential did have Sprint connection problems before all updates)

I do not, how would I go about getting it in writing? Everything was discussed over the phone. I spoke to 3 different people.

Since it is a formal retention offer noted internally on your account, you may be able to get a written copy by requesting one via chat or talking to Retentions. I suspect that will be the case. They have thousands of these formally-approved retention offers so they probably have a procedure to provide a written copy on request.

I am sure that it exists and has been approved, but I also would request a written copy to avoid any miscommunication.

I am positive they would not mind, but if you do not want to ask, you could just go over it in detail in chat and that way you would at least have the written chat transcript of that.

I opened a Sprint account for my AT&T galaxy s8 (unlocked) yesterday. I got a pack of 3 sim cards from sprint store for $3. I declined insurance, despite the fact that tele sales urged me to get it.

Then I added my wife's iphone 6s from tmobile (also unlocked). I bought a tmboile sim card starter pack for $10 on amazon to port her out of sprint because she was on my dad's account. It took about 10 mins to port from sprint to tmobile. When I was on the phone with tele sales already for my phone, I added hers to which the idiot guy I was talking to said he needed to add Sprint Complete for $15 a month to her line, but I could cancel it immediately after for no charge.

I finished the call with him then he transfered me to Asurion to cancel the Sprint Complete. The girl there said, "no problem, it's cancelled for no charge".

Fast forward to now and it is still on my account. I am just nervous these idiots at Sprint lied and I'm gonna be stuck with this stupid insurance I don't need.

I usually comb through the comments and find somebody talking about what I'm clueless about but this thread is over 1800 pages lol. So, there is an eligible devices list then an expired list and they almost look identical. I'm leaning towards buying a phone. What phone should I get? Anything solid with no connection issues below 200

Just do support chat and cancel it. You can get a written transcript. They (not Asurion, not Sales) are the ones who can do it reliably.
