I tried, but they are checking for real lines that ring on a phone and are active for at least last 90 days!

I feel like its a Scam to lure customers to sprint.. I have seen people have ported successfully. but my experience was a disaster.

I was ready and did everything as mentioned in this post. They have done hard query and everything went fine. Ordered sim cards and during porting I provided IMEI and phone numbers for my 5 lines of verizon to port to Sprint.

Customer service hard pushed me to go for $ 125 / mo but I insisted to stick with BYOD 1 year free. He try to convince me that speed will be slow, atlast he said there is no offer, I told him to go to slickdeals.net and search for sprint. Then he told this offer is for people who have received a email. I told it is not the case, he atlast hang up on me.

Interesting.. I've ported my line twice for this BYOD offer, easy peasy.

Two nights ago I helped my parents move from Verizon post-paid, and the representative was PUSHING HARD to sign me up for some insurance plan for each phone. Except he didn't ask - he would just matter-of-factly say he was signing me up for this plan and it would be $0.60/day per day per phone. He argued with me when I said I didn't want it. He even went on his merry way matter-of-factly adding it to the second line. Then he tried forcing me to buy accessories and a tablet.

We got it set up the way we wanted, but it was a long call of arguing and justifying (!!!) why I didn't want all that crap.

That means you called the "wrong" number.
Call the number listed in the Wiki ending in 8777 and you will be fine.
This offer is indeed "targeted" only and is not available through any of Customer Service, Stores, Chat, or the other call centers.
If you activated online rather than calling in originally, we recommend against that in the Wiki, but if you do do it that way you should have received instructions to activate online. People here have posted how to do it that way also.

I'm looking for a similar scams for cable tv and internet, do you know of any? Also for similar home and car insurance scams, I'd like to pay next to nothing for them as well. I think I pay too much for that stuff.
Thanks in advance and will rep as well!

In all seriousness, just follow the wiki and do what @comintel suggested above Wink

you can't port directly from a Sprint mvno like Tello, you'd have to port elsewhere first. The wiki has info about some options.

It was correct number
1-866-782-8777.
Now I appreciate customer service of Verizon and AT&T, its 1000 times better than sprint. Atleast they dont hang up on you.

You cannot port directly from Tello because it is a Sprint mvno.
See the Wiki for the workaround.

Also any phone that was on Tello may be locked to mvno use only until the mvno flag is reset. Search recent posts on Tello for how to deal with that.

Well it must have got routed to the wrong call center then.

It is rare but it can happen.

Just call again and you will be fine.

Wow so the idea of going to a store first before anything else worked!

Fantastic news for others concerned about getting approved who feel more comfortable doing it this
way.

I take it they asked you identity test questions but you passed?
I don't know what to think of this. It seems like the process is the same in store for ID/cred check, but somehow I feel I would have failed it over the phone. My case is a bit strange because I know a bit about the person who stole my identity, such as the state/city he's in and his last name. While one question was about me, the other 3 were about him.

Having said that, it did make the 8777 call extremely shorter than last time. I do think it's better to go in store for ID cred check

Maybe a useful data point for someone swapping Pixel 3/XL device into existing BYOD:

Tried to swap device online from Nesux 6P but was not letting me proceed with SIM even though IMEI of Pixel 3 XL was acceptable, the ICCID was not. So had to chat and they confirmed my ICCID was not compatible for new devices like Pixel and that I'd need to buy. Luckily I had a 3-in1 SIM kit from Sprint store when ported BYOD lines and one of the unused 2 of 3 from the SIM kit worked and chat smoothly helped to swap device.

The SIM type that worked was SIMOLW506TQ

Hope helps someone. This was device swap into 1 of 4 existing BYOD free lines.
