Lol. Sprint reps signing people up for the insurance service w/o their consent. Naughty naughty. A lump of coal it is for them.

edit: I know most ppl agree to the service (w/ the intention of reversing it), but there have been some who didn't and still got signed up for it.

When I input info from phone to show compatibility I get this:

Sorry, but our records show you still owe Sprint for this device. Sign in to find this device on your account.

I'm using unlocked Note 8 but notice only Special Edition Note 8 is compatible. So an unlocked Note 8 wouldn't work and thus why I get the error message for compatibility.

Not been on Sprint so don't owe them any money.

Thanks.

Try the IMEI on the ting checker. Sometimes that can push it to Sprint. Then recheck

Can anyone comment as to the expected ongoing monthly taxes and fees ? I think I read somewhere $4ish.

If I do the account activation over the phone I can avoid the activation fee? And the $10 new sim shipping fee ?

You'll see near the end of the wiki post, what people are paying in taxes and fees in or near your zip code.
Also in the wiki, you'll find answers for activation fees, etc..

Just did it. Phone compatible withTing and then tried Sprint again and still a no-go.

What would cause me to have to go to a Sprint store. Does that always mean an issue with the phone? If unlocked, shouldn't it work?

Based on release dates of auto branding for S8, Note 8, S9, the guesstimate would be February for Note 9. Sprint calls the unlocked(unbranded) model Special edition.
I have an unlocked Samsung Note 8. Not sure what you mean by auto branding. When I check compatibility now, I get Sorry, but our records show you still owe Sprint for this device. Sign in to find this device on your account.
Phone never been on Sprint.

Are you saying my phone may work in February 2019? And since I get error now maybe it will be compatible later?

Thinking of doing my port out to Tmobile/port back to new account today. Generally how long does it take for the port out/port in?

I transferred away from Sprint free for a year plan. I transferred to twigby which is a MVNO that uses Sprint's network. Does anybody know if I am I able to transfer back to the Sprint free plan after a couple of months or would I have to transfer to a non Sprint MVNO?

Looking at OP, it says Moto G4 is good for this deal but in wiki it seems to say it isn't. The phone is currently on Sprint, I was planning to move it to T-Mobile for a day but it seems my original plan might not work since I drug my feet for too long?

Non Sprint and you also have to have the flag flipped back to postpaid if using the same phone.

The "you owe Sprint" message does not mean what it says literally. It means the MVNO ownership flag is set on from prior use on a Sprint mvno.

You will have to get it flipped to use it on postpaid (PLBL to SPCS).

You can see if TeleSales will do it or otherwise post in Sprint Community Forum and they will do it (find any reasonable thread there or start a new one and they will get back to you privately, normally inside a working day now). LiterallyUnlimited is now too busy to do these anymore unless you were a Ting customer.

It is not true that only Special Edition Note 8 is compatible. All U.S. Note 8 is now compatible (except possibly Cricket and Metro PCS which may lock to their respective services for longer periods of time).

The lists you are looking at are completely out of date and wrong and should not be used. Use only the list at https://community.sprint.com/t5/P...-p/1020211 which is updated frequently.

If you do thru account dashboard same day no charges and you get email confirmation. I guess if you want to ask for credits if you did not cancell same day you could use chat.
I forgot to cancelled until a couple days later. I did it through the dashboard. Easy peasy. It became at $15 credit on my account for future charges.
