Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

So I got the SIM card today and the agent called me back to set up the service. They told me the 1-year free account is having issues (agent couldn't get it to work right away) and they'd set me up with a temporary account ($45 plan) escalated to supervisor to have it changed to free account - and the supervisor or whoever would credit the account to make sure I didn't pay.

After reading the horror stories on here with the hassle, is it worth the time to deal with that? They already tried to hard sell Sprint Drive and now I'm getting a shady vibe. I asked them to call back tomorrow, but my current plan with callback number ends tomorrow lol - oof.
Exact same thing happened to me and a few others early on. It was credited back to my account.

I just signed up today for my 3rd go at this. So far very happy with the service.

Any idea about how long is the port-in process from t-mobile prepaid to sprint

Sprint CS told me that the port-in is successful and immediately ready to use.

But in fact, I cannot make a call nor text.

I just wonder how long is the transfer process?

My port-in just finished w/in 30 mins, after hang up w/ the Rep who helped me setup the new account & activated my old Essential phone (on another yr of free BYOD service).

Hope you did reboot your phone...???

So it wasn't a huge PITA and didn't require months of going back and forth to fix it?

3rd go as in 3rd year/line?

Thanks

I will address this part. Most likely will not work. It's called "phantom churn" and the systems are set up to block it. The phone flip-flop will most likely cancel the promotion you are on. More than you could ever want to know about the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ijq99lhrqr4 although he does not directly address that Sprint's system seems to be set up to cancel promotions when this is indicated.
I disagree. I think it will work exactly as you described it. In fact lots of people have already done that

Ok so lets say I'm trying to get the BYOD as cheap as possible with a decent phone.
I currently have 2 verizon numbers on seperate lines in addition to Google Voice numbers.
This https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sams...Id=5923704seems like a good option.

My problem is that I currently don't have a phone that can support the Sprint network.

Would I be able to go to BestBuy to purchase an unlocked phone, say the MotoG6, and activate for the sprint BYOD, fully intending to return it within 14 days for a full refund.

After activation and number porting, go back to bestbuy, activate a new line qualifying me for this $244 sprint branded S8+

Cancel that line, move the s8+ over to my free line, and return the Moto G6.

Seems convoluted, but this is slickdeals, isn't it?

Basically all I'm looking for is 2 DECENT phones for under $250each that I can bring into this BYOD plan.
I'm up for suggestions.
I think it should work most people have done exactly that

when we cancel an account by porting out do we need to call sprint again to confirm it is 100% cancelled or is it automatically 100% cancelled once ported out and we can redo again
There's that saying an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Porting out should cancel everything. But it doesn't hurt to call once the line to sport it out to confirm that it is in fact canceled

Those offers did they give you are usually not worth it there's always hidden things behind it that you just are not aware of monthly fries with a free iPad Etc.

This is totally wrong. I would not do it. There is nothing wrong with the system. You probably got a person who cannot add that plan. I would hu CA. Hang up call again. Just like the week he says

Did you read any part of this threatened? Extending it is one in a billion. I don't think anyone is able able to extend it. Why do you think all these folks are going through the pain of parting out and putting back in with a different social or waiting 45 days if it were that easy everybody would do it

Ummm, I got the offer for a free device & free service. Let's see if there will be any hidden fee. Since it is no contract, I can cancel it & return the device at anytime.

Absolutely I would not do that.

People who have started out on the wrong plan have sometimes had weeks or more of agony changing the plan later. Supervisors have not been able to change it to the free plan right away.

Just ignore the call completely. You have the sim which is all you need. Call 866-782-8777 and set it up from scratch right now. There is no reason it cannot be done RIGHT NOW.

As Desi I think suggested and you are maybe hinting, something is fishy with this. I suspect what it could be is that since these outgoing calls are marketing calls, they have very junior marketing people calling out, and they did not train them for full system access, or they are in a different office.. After all, most of the outgoing calls they make are not going to be answered etc. So they probably have given these lists of people to call to people who only have access to some minimal system, that lacks access to the free plan. Somebody there in that out-of-control Philippine Call Center must have come up with the hare-brained scheme of having them set up the plans as paid plans to begin. If course it could be even worse than that but I suspect that it is just something stupid like that.

So I suggest do not play their silly game which is obviously based on a lie. If people accept obvious lies they set themselves up as "marks" for more of the same.

I suggest just call 866-782-8777 and activate. They do not have any records of who got what sim - do not worry about that. And I would not not sit around waiting for them to call you. If they do call you, it will be another low-level idiot calling. They have their best people answering calls (where there is a higher sales success rate), not making them.
